What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

I think gas would have to be $4 a gallon for me to put $75 in the tank at one time. Either you have a bigger tank or your gas is more than a dollar more per gallon than mine.

Filled her up, 60 bones worth. Then I came home after a gas pipe side job and tacked some wing gussets and bumper gussets into place. Maybe tomorrow I will tack the swing out hinge plate on and decided how much swing out I’m going to do, full length across the tail gate is over 5’. That’s a lot of beef hanging out when it’s open!

Got 15.6 MPG too.

 

I didn't even check the price today because the wife was in a hurry, but last week I think it was $2.70 for ethanol free. Anything below $3 and you won't hear me complain too loudly. If we get down to around $2.0-$2.20 this summer I'll be a happy camper.

 

I didn't realize Utah was so high. That is disappointing.

 

It will start dropping again. Last year it got down to $1.75 around here. Now that USA is number one in oil and gas production again and will be for the next decade at least, the prices should continue their downward cost. The Middle East is hurting and will drop their costs to compete against us. A beautiful competitive dilemma.

 

21 gallons of 87 octane this morning, its actually today low for a weekend rate.

 

I was thinking the same thing more or less, but with more money flowing and jobs doing good I could see the demand for gas pushing prices up a little from what the were last year possibly. Still getting our oil locally shouldn't be hurting average prices and hopefully will get us away from some foreign entanglements.

Maybe my gas gauge or sender is screwed up because I don't think I've ever put more than 18 gallons in my truck and I think that was the one time I had the gas light come on. Alphabet says my tank is 26.4 gallons. I usually dip just below 1/4 and usually put about 16 gallons in so I guess that's about right. Maybe that thing just says empty when I still have 2-3 gallons?

 

@KarmaKannon most I've put in is just shy of 24 gallons. The light comes on pretty early from my experience, but I don't really trust our senders. Mine goes full to a quarter tank seemingly within minutes and slows down from there, I've heard it's from the shape of the tank.

 

Our tanks do that to protect the fuel pump. The gas acts as a coolant and keeps them from burning up. The light comes on with about 4 gallons left.

 

That makes sense because mine seems to stay between 1/4 and 1/8 for a while.

 

I pulled the blower out and brushed the dirt and crap out of it. A lot of dirt, dust, leaves, twigs, and other crap fell out onto my floor mat. I went ahead and vacuumed my carpet and washed my truck, even got those cement spots off the bed side.

Gonna spend some time in the detailing threads and figure out a shopping list of what I need to bring my paint back some glory. As I was wiping the shamy across my truck it felt like I was rubbing a rusty pile of crap. Definitely time to do something here.

 

This makes me happy. Don't over think the detailing. It can become overwhelming. Actually doing the work is more important than the products.

Wash with dawn-> IronX->claybar->polish->wax.

Can be done in a day. 4-5 beer job.

Edit-they make claybar mitts now that are supposed to make it a lot faster and easier than trying to hold a small piece of clay.

Ive been averaging around 11 to 12 city driving and around 13 highway.

I did add some suggestions to my extensive list of things to do but idk what order things will go in just yet.

Finishing up my bumper, roof rack will be in Tuesday so need to install that. Need to get sliders made, purchase the decked storage system from this fb market place before it sells... gears, skid row protection, install my headers, figure out exhaust, install suspension, potentially order archive garage leaf springs, front locker, potentially front and rear sway bars... just to name a few things left on the list Haha

I guess what I'm saying is I need to sell a lot of shit this year at work!

 

I too desire a running taco. I had a dream today that I was driving a 5 speed first gen v6 extended cab taco through a hilly town. It felt so real. I haven't driven a manual in years and I couldn't even tell you last time I drove a manual Toyota truck. But it felt exactly like they used to. Long throws into hearty gears and a wobbly shifter lol even the clutch squeeked

 

I want headers bad and a nice exhaust. For now the flowmaster and resonator delete with it dumped over the axle sounds decent thought. I just doubt I made any gains in power

 

I usually fill up when I find a station around $3.2-3.3, but the shell near my house is usually around that. How would you measure mpg with bigger tires? If you did it by O.D. wouldn't It be off a little?

 

I think I saw once that if you switch the muffler to a free flowing one you gain like 10hp? That could be completely wrong but I thought I saw the bamuffler guy say that.
