Just ordered a swing case. Has anyone installed it using only half the bolts so you don’t have to drill as many holes. Thanks to all

I guess it depends on how much you intend to put in it.
I used all the screws to install mine.

If your concern is having the holes if you remove it to sell or trade the truck, I'm sure you could find some black plugs to put in the holes.
Lowes or Home Depot sells small packages of them in the specialty hardware..
    Something like this.
    https://www.amazon.com/GOOACC-Retainer-Plastic-Fasteners-Chrysler/dp/B07L6FJGR4/ref=sr_1_34?crid=2FFZKOR4GGSOA&keywords=black+screw+hole+plugs&qid=1581200376&sprefix=black+screw+hole+plugs%2Caps%2C181&sr=8-34

I have one. I think you’ll see when you go to install, you should probably use all the fasteners. As it is, it’s a lot of weight on one end of the swing case.

I was gonna grab two of these things, buuut after seeing the "trail" edition models I'm going to see if you can get those storage containers that are in the bed of the tundra from the dealer. Those are perfect for the new topper I got on order.....

I can't imagine these cases not being compatible with earlier models unless Toyota just gone stupid.

I wonder how those install? Would love to keep my off road gear in one instead of rubbermaid bin

If you search the TFL channel on youtube they made a video "The 10 coolest trucks of chicago" they mount to the truck bed using 4 bolts 3 outside and 1 inside the lockable area. Pretty sure the bottom bolts are the same that mount the bed to the frame.

I'm gonna reach out to the dealer here, I would assume its early in the game for them to be available, but I will also reach out to Roman from the forum here and then SparksParts as well...standby to standby!!!

What's the distance between the boxes? Can you slide a 4'x8' sheet of plywood in there?

It didn't say in the video but I highly doubt you would be able to throw a sheet back there and have it lay flat. I have a crewmax and use a 12' utility trailer for any sort of "hauling" I have to do. For my needs those tubs would be perfect for me.

Has anyone modified the mounting bracket so u can still have your back tie down hooks ? Or won’t the box latch then. There has to be a way to do it.

The swing case wouldn’t swing, if you did this. That’s why they have to be removed.

I will try to get some pictures, I grinded down the brakets some, so still have the hooks to use and the case does still swing out, if want to carry something larger I can move the swing case out

Yea just grind it down enough to fit. Then spray painted it black, since the case pops in and out still get to keep both tie downs.

Just installed my swing boxes today. Modified the brackets so I could keep my tie down hooks. It worked perfectly.F28E7A49-4598-4D70-9B7A-ED8C31640F9A.jpg8B081C14-F609-49B6-B105-8409A4A15030.jpg

So damned expensive! But I keep replacing all the less-expensive options I’ve tried. I hit jumps at speed and they break.

New here and this is my first post. I have an 04 and from looking at the mount it "might" be possible to make it fit. Since you guys have it in hand do you think it's possible? Thanks
