    OPERATION BLACKOUT.

I clean the parts with spray nine and scrub with a proper fashioned 45 degree toothbrush head. Then rinse with water. Pretty good outcome I’d say ok a 12 year old truck with 480k

I make sure I sand the entire surface evenly with 120 grit.

Then spray thin layers of Napa flat black spray paint until coated.

Plastic painting strategies include skipping the primer step. With past experience spray painting plastics, priming doesn’t seem to work too well. I think I’ll give this a shot and see how it goes.

Well that was a bit of work, but well worth it. I dash mounted my cb radio and brake controller while the dash was apart.

For spots I don’t want painted, I use 3m masking tape with plastic backing.

Actually it came factory with power folding. I cheated out on my tow mirrors and didn’t ordered power folding. I probably will upgrade at some point when the rest of the things I need to do are finished. They are all scratched to hell now anyway with all the beatings haha

Got the top of the door blacked out. The ‘flat black’ vinyl spray turned out quite shiny. But that’s fine, as my arm sits there so it won’t be flat anyway haha. I am wondering if I should paint the bottom grey pieces matte black to match the rest, or paint quicksand to match the bedliner that’s going on the truck body... Thoughts?

Thought I’d post the masking process of the door panel’s.
This scotch blue plastic backed tape is the greatest masking secret of all!

Today I found these left over pieces of plastic (from the mud flaps I made) and cut them into a center console divider.

After realizing the little tray would fit into the divider, I modified to make it fit.

So stoked on this free, 15 minute upgrade!

I bought a 48” under tailgate led light strip as it fits the window width. Then I cut the rubber housing off the strip to make it fit into the window seam.

I cut all the extra buytal out of the window seam to make room for the light strips and silicone.

Taping the glass and body off helped keep a clean line.

I laid the window seam half full of silicone, then set the light strip in. Once it was set, I filled the remainder of the seam with more silicone. To ensure perfect silicone placement I used a spray bottle of dish soap water for shaping lube. Just spray the soap onto the silicone and the finger of choice, then glide your finger as needed.

Lastly, I wired the light into the existing circuit. This light is 5 function so has running(70%), brake, signal’s and reverse.

I’m pretty happy with the outcome and will need to get some pictures once the truck is outside again.

Pretty sure I figured out the simplest way to mount ditch lights to any Tundra/Sequoia hood. Just had to remove the end of the cowl rubber trim pieces.

Just bent some steel in the vice and drilled holes to fit the hood to hinge mounting bolts.
