Remove the 2 bolts per side of the bumper. And one rubber mount each side off the fender. Then remove the bumper. The upper and lower plastic has 10 10mm screws holding each piece on. I will post pictures tomorrow.

Finally had a chance to knock out two annoying little things. First, put backer rod on/behind the dash and it killed the squeaking I get going slow on any road - hallelujah. Second, took out the old, rusty screws and cleaned out the little holes and reinstalled new stainless screws, looks much better.

    Now to detail it again...

I need to order up a new set of scuff plates for mine. At some point, a previous owner or electronics wizard got impatient with the screws and just pulled it off, breaking all the plastic anchors.

Nothing much happening today. Day 3 after a tonsillectomy. Can't imagine this doesn't suck at any age, but at 55, it seriously bites. Did manage to order and schedule a leather interior install...the drugs made the price tag pain better :)

I wish I could do that as well but my driver seat back is broken so I need to find a new seat anyways....and I keep wanting to get a heated leather replacement one but they're impossible to find. What brand did you go with for the leather?

Roadwire. Independent installer, just have to make a road trip to let him do the install. Hey--know if any good sandblast/media blasters in the area? I need the bumpers off my Dodge blasted so I can recoat. I've already burned off most of the old powder, just need to clean them up now so I can prime and line.

I bought a Hi Lift Jack Mount from eBay. Instructions call to install the carriage bolt from under the bracket, put a washer and tighten the nut. Well, the carriage bolt isn’t threaded all the way.

(Chinese) Seller can barely speak English - that’s what I get for not looking at where this came from. I did get it in two days. I asked for better instructions and they just sent me the same stuff they had in the package.

Has anyone ever had one of these - did they send me a wrong carriage bolt? I know I can make it work - the carriage bolt can be lose in the bracket and I will tighten it with the part that goes on the bracket, but I’d rather have it right.

My man! What color? Are you doing heat too? The heating pads were super easy and also cheap. The Amazon watercarbon seat heaters don't seem to get as hot or do it as fast as my wife's OEM MB seat heaters, but I'm happy for the low price of $40 or something like that.

It's a good excuse to run an amp wire to a small fuse box under your center console.

Two tone. Cool tone brown trim with "cafe" inserts and contrasting stitching.

Well, maybe not exactly "cool" but matches the dark brown on the 04 interior well. Door panels will also be the darker brown

Nice! I'm excited for you. I'm very interested to see how the door panels look. That's one of the next interior upgrades on my truck

Damn. That’s a lot more. Hmm.

my guy said 250, all it needs is sanded down and painted. There’s not much work to do to fiberglass

(Camper conversion underway.) Rebuilt engine w/265K miles, A.R.E. camper shell (w/cab pass-through, rooftop fan, and side windows delete), bedlinered steel ladder rack (w/wooden rooftop deck and hammock mount), all LED lights (red dash, 4" side floods, 32" rear bar), Android head unit, 1.5" lift from Bilstein 5100 struts, 32" DuraTrac tires on factory rims, 1.5" wheel spacers, Moog suspension parts, SuperSprings leaf kit, diff drop, Reese trailer brake control, GoRhino Hitch Step, debadged, F-150 rear bumper, Sequoia center console unit upgrade, partial rear bench seat delete, dashcam, aftermarket speakers, 50% sound deadening coverage, custom tools unit.
You guys inspired me to remove my front lower bumper trim too! I love learning a mod I didn't know existed... Did have to do some cutting on the middle screws because they were inaccessible and I didn't want to take the whole bumper apart. I'll never put the plastic piece back on so I don't mind. Once removed, there was some rust. Ground off as much as I could, hit it with rust-converting primer, and some satin black spray paint.

The finished result is definitely more rugged, exposed, and just looks better. I doubt there's terribly less gas mileage.

Definitely doing heat as well. I'll have to chat with the installer about his plans for the wiring. Having a remote fuse box under there would be good for several things!

Are you saying remove the entire bumper? I'm just trying to remove the plastic part on the bottom. I've removed all the 10mm bolts except for the 2 in the middle. I can't access them.

Glad I'm not crazy. Those middle bolts cannot be reached. I'm not going to remove the entire bumper and I don't have a cutting tool so this will have to wait.

Man, I'd get it done tomorrow for $250. Maybe I need to check some other places - in all honesty, I figured Maaco would be the cheapest by far.

The red ones are different. Note the coil and top plate, I would pass on that deal. Those aren't even for a first gen.

Did nothing to the truck today other than plan out the wheel painting tomorrow and Monday. Tomorrow is prep day and Monday spray day.

I sprayed a sample coat on some metal yesterday and held it up to a wheel. Looks like a factory match. The wheels will be restored back to factory originality after years of the black hub. I will be adding a little flair to the Toy Insignia on the hub cap TBD.

Might tackle the transfer case and front diff oil change tomorrow if my skirt feels up to it.
