Sway Bar or not to Sway Bar

Hmm... that is crazy. My truck had so much body roll when turning or high speed lane changes that it was borderline dangerous. Trd off-road 4x4. After the sway bar, it was night and day. Maybe my shocks are blown. Who knows.

 

Yeah...I'm not sure either. I have just the regular SR5 so not even the bilstein shocks. I have those black ones on my 2019...not sure if it makes a difference

 

@Roman and Sparks have a great price, but the shipping cost throws it off. I got it at my local dealership for $225 out the door.

 

@Rex Kramer , Is that a Tundra or a Sequoia in the picture you posted? That is not the same bar I got. Mine curves in the center

I have a TRD rear sway bar. And actually also have a front TRD sway bar.

Mrs. McGov. has built-by-Gawd double D's and the sway bars help insure they bounce nicely going down the road. Do I need professional medical help????

@azTony . It's the standard TRD Sway Bar .

 

If Notice the curve is on the bottom of the differential. But the picture @RexCramer posted , It looks like it's much higher up behind the differential and looks straight

 

Ok, makes sense now. The @RexCramer post shows his sway bar that is mounted 90 degrees up from the way yours is mounted (your bar is under axles the way it is designed and his is on the rear due to the axle mounting on top of the axle) and the 90 rotation does not show the "curve".

 

His bar, where it connects to the end links is above his leafs. Yours is the opposite. Due to his rear drop kit, it looks like he had to move the sway bar up the diff in order to clear over the leafs and connect to the end links.

 

I have never seen one mounted like he did it before. All the ones I have seen are installed like mine .

 

I kind of like the way he has it installed high for clearance

 

It is a 2007 Regular cab short box Tundra that I lowered the rear by hanging the leaf springs under the axle, this mod requires anti-roll bar end links that are at least 3 inches shorter than the standard end links that come with the TRD bar. The bar is mounted on the back of the axle instead of on the bottom so everything lines up correctly... my rear shocks are also 3" shorter than standard. The Firestone bags are aired up a bit in this picture, it normally sits perfectly level.

Interesting you say this. I upgraded suspension from stock TRD Off-road Bilstein to 6112/5160 Bilstein set up that leveled the truck. Grant it, my Bilstein upgrade is not the same as the Fox TRD Pro upgrade, but the sway bars have made the ride much better on the highway, with upgraded suspension. The body roll is all but gone.

 

Go TRD front and rear.... you wont be sorry...

 

I like the cut tail pipe idea. What's the purpose or advantage of that?

 

The factory turn out to the side would not clear the leaf pack now that it's hung under the axle, so 24" of pipe was removed. The resulting turn down retains my low end torque, it sounds good and thanks to the BAMuffler it produces the occasional burble & pop like a track car.

 

Do you get fumes in the cab? I assume no. The muscle cars I’ve had with exhaust like that (emptied under the body) all seemed as though I was huffing the exhaust after about 30 mins...and if there was a traffic jam, forget it.

 

Install a rear sway bar. Use quick disconnects if you think you may want more off road articulation. Use Firestone air bags mounted with off road cradles if you plan on hauling weight.

 

Quick Disconnect? Do you have a limk where to purchase and what they look like? I like the idea

No fumes in the cab. Before I installed the BAMuffler it dumped before the axle, no fumes then either.
