I know. Problem is, I'm actually about to move closer.

For the next couple Weeks I have a 35 mile commute, but then it'll return to 1.5 miles.

Just went through a tank of ethanol free. Mpg was 14-14.5, so right about .5 mpg better than with ethanol. Now the interesting thing is that my cruise control works better. Not sure if having my battery unplugged overnight for seat cover installs helped this or it's the fuel. My shifting also feels better. Power feels about the same, if a hair better and with less downshifting. It really does seem to downshift less on the highway.

Was it worth around $0.2-$0.25 per gallon? You decide. I'm trying another tank of ethanol free and I'll throw some fuel system cleaner in there too.

Edit: I lied, I got on it pretty good today and it definitely felt stronger.

The battery disconnect changes the shifts back to default settings for a certain number of miles driven (not sure but IIRC its 50 miles), then CPU remembers your driving patterns later. This could be your ‘shifting difference’. Time will tell. I know my 12-port injectors changed the shifts (more noticeable downshifts) after they were installed and still to this day. Cool how fuel and the injection does this.

The power thing is great and just may be the fuel itself giving you the butt dyno tingles!

Finally had to fill up again. 338 miles and put in 24.4 gal for 13.85 mpg. That's aggressive driving and 80 on the highway.

So my worst mileage was keeping it under 3500 shifts and 75 on the highway.

I was thinking the computer had been taken back to baseline, but the difference in my cruise control and less downshifting on the highway has lasted 200 miles since filling up. I'm really wondering if the ethanol free is really just that much better than our winter blend.

Tire and/or hearing different from stock? -No
    Bed cap or cover? -No
    87 octane
    ~sea level

First full tank since I purchased my truck was 294 miles, all with a trailer. 165 miles of an empty trailer, 129 with a vw corrado on the trailer and ~200lbs of parts in the bed. 12.9mpg
Won't be able to calculate w/o a trailer until the next tank. Current tank has ~60 miles of mixed loaded and empty trailer before I got home. I reckon I could just top it off and reset the trip, but I commute 50 miles a day. I see the gas station enough already.

Holy crap...I also have a T100 and it SUCKS gas. I'm not sure all the mods but there's a lift kit and undersized mud tires but it gets 8-11mpg unloaded...I've never gotten more then 11mpg in the 3ish years I've owned it hah

I'll be doing a trip next weekend (after my timing belt is replaced, LOL) and I'll be sure to check gas mileage. I drive like an old man, and tend to hypermile where possible. I don't think it's possible in a truck (unlike my Avalon) but I'll do my best and see what happens and post up.

Here's me driving my Avalon from just outside Calgary, Alberta to Golden, BC. All highway, all mountains. Distance of 296km (184mi) and getting 6.1l/100km which is a true 39 mpg (US gallon):

    avalon_hyper.jpg

I do a lot of road-trips in the Avalon - mostly mountainous terrain from Alberta through BC, down into Idaho, Washington, Oregon and California with single-tank ranges of over 1,000km (621miles) with no issues when hypermiling.

It'll be interesting to see what I can do with a truck, rofl.

P.S. If you're in the Pacific NW and see a Black 3rd-Gen Avalon with an Alberta plate, it's probably me going annoyingly slow. Sorry.

I filled up today with more pure gasoline. My mpg was about 14-14.5 again. This time I found ethanol free for the same price as premium (2.77). If that's going to be normal then I'll probably keep buying it.

My M.P.G. is P.O.O.P. but that was to be expected. After 4,700 miles in 108 days (but who’s counting...) the truck is showing 13.5 mpg. Which is 13.0 mpg in reality since hand-calculating a few tanks showed the computer to be 0.5mpg high.

What I found really interesting was a recent highway run of 104 miles. The truck showed 17.5 mpgs (17 actual), which was only about 7% less than my F150 for the exact same trip.

No problem! At least your truck was cheap enough that the bad gas mileage isn't a huge deal.
I'm just playing, we all get bed mileage compared to something or other. I'd rather take my truck (14.5mpg) than my wife's car (20mpg) just because my kid and I like the truck. Not to mention miles on a Mercedes and mileage on a Toyota are completely different currencies. Tundra with 200k, no big deal. Ml350 with 200k, probably a hard pass.

    Update.
I put in 18.992 gallons of 87 octane yesterday after 319.5 miles. 16.8mpg
I drive approx 40/60 hwy/city and do my best to not get angry in traffic. Hwy is 50/50 55mph & 70-75mph.
So if you like math...I drive
    ~20% highway @55mph
    ~20% highway @ 70-75mph
~60% light to light (stop-n-go) traffic.
I do not let the truck idle on cold start. (I also don't rev it over 2k until up to temp, if at all.) And I have not checked the pressure in my tires. Truck is bone stock. (I'm working on that, but my real project is a black-hole for money and time.) I firmly believe fuel economy is a function of patience divided by modifications. We'll see how long I can keep this up.

There is something wrong with your T100, then. It should be averaging around 16 to 17 or so. I could get close to 20 on a long, 50-60 mph trip, but as low as 15 for higher speed stretches (accounting for my slightly over-sized tires).

14 mile commute (one way) with 2006 v8 AC 4wd on 295/75r16s, sliders, steel front bumper, 2 skids, tool box and 3 inch lift. Regular gas from Kroger (cheap). Elevation 23-43 feet.
    20200205_215500.jpg
Once I averaged 16mpg on my commute about a month ago but I didn't take a pic.
The.instant mpg shows 0 because I turned off the truck and then saw the avg mpg and decided to take a pic. As soon as I got my camera ready, the sgii turned off so I just turned the key to on and snapped the pic.

Yeah but it varies each day. I think the wind and the air temperature makes a big difference and obviously the flow of traffic and my speed. Some days i get like 11 or 12 avg mpg on that same commute.

Perhaps the ScanGauge is more accurate but my OBDII paired with Torque Pro isn't accurate at all. Not even close. I always just check it at the pump.

I'm not entirely sure how accurate the scan gauge is. That's a good idea to see the avg per tank. The scangauge is good to see the avg per trip but it could be off since I have bigger tires

Ok so i believe I averaged 14.6mpg on this tank. I went 299 miles on the trip OD this tank and put 22.37 gallons of gas in this morning. If I know my math as well as I think I do... And I'll cheat by using this and a calculator.
    Screenshot_20200206-093303_Chrome.jpg
So 9.2% difference from tires right?

(299+(0.092×299))÷22.37=14.579 avg mpg with 4.13 gallons to spare in a 26.5 gallon tank and I actually travelled 326.5 miles on those 22.37 gallons. Math is neat. Hope I did all that right.

I got 20.8 avg mpg on a 200 mile trip when I was bone stock once. Was a mix of hills and flat land. Maybe the going down hill helped :notsure:

Just for fun for those of us that run em til the gas light comes on, according to your trip OD, when does the gas light usually come on? I know for me after the tires it started coming on around 270 miles in the winter and 280 in the summer. Once I installed 12 hole injectors that added about 10 miles to either reading. Again this is with 33.4x11.6 inch tires

That’s right. A simpler way to do it would be to just multiply your mileage by 1.092.

    (299x1.092) / 22.37 = 14.5957

I get paid mileage for work, so I have to do this little equation for nearly every day of the week. My factor is 1.05 though due to my speedometer being a bit off in addition to the different tire size.
