Sway Bar or not to Sway Bar

    Hey Fellas ,
I'm thinking about installing a TRD rear Sway Bar on my 2019 TRD offroad. 99% of my driving is on normal roads. I go off road about four or five times a year for hunting. It's usually just dirt road or gravel roads. I like to hear from the guys that already installed it in the rear only and get your opinion. Do you recommend it and would you do it again?

I had it installed in my 2009 and 12, but didn’t bother after that. I suppose if you swerved a lot to miss deer? Likely you can feel a bit of handling difference but not as much as a shocks upgrade in my opinion.

Had a Hellwig on my 2005 DC.
Have a TRD RSB on my 2014 DC SR5.

If you putter around like a Sunday driver, it may not help much.
If you drive it like you stole it (like I do), it will help a lot.

Keeps the truck more level on all turns, but it really excels on highway ramps.
Cuts the vehicle roll on these turns, it is like night and day.
Should have been included with all Tundras from the factory.
Fairly easy to install, check the bolts after a couple hundred miles..

Shop around for the best price..
Looks like Sparks has a pretty good price, sorry @Roman

I'd compare the prices with shipping between Sparks and Toyota of Cool Springs.
I think they might both have discount shipping codes, not sure what they are.
Looks like the current Amazon and eBay prices are higher than these 2.

I have one. I did notice a positive difference after install. Lot of hills/mountains/twisty roads here, so it was very useful mod.

I will tell you, on a concrete highway, I noticed "bed bounce" or the truck "bucking" a lot more. My wife actually noticed the negative difference on the highway.

    Overall, I would recommend this.

Not sure if my opinion helps or not due to my truck having the TRD front and rear sway bar from the factory. I can't tell you a difference of the truck with and without because of the above stated, but I canbtell you that this truck handles better than any other truck I have ever driven. As others have stated, the cornering and handling on on/off ramps is amazing.
My driving is very similar to yours as well. Mostly highway with a few dirt/gravel roads around hunting season. I have noticed no I'll effects on gravel roads and muddy parking lots at public hunting land.

When people ask if they should do a modification, I ask "What is the truck (or car) not doing that you want it to do?" Then decide if the modification they want to make will solve the issue. If you have no issue, then it might not be a good idea.

I have had a TRD Sway Bar on my old 2010 and I put a Hellwig on my 2018 and would highly recommend the Hellwig. It is adjustable, solid and not the eye catching red color under your truck. I get it, a lot like the red but I am just not that guy.

This was my experience. I live in Florida where there aren't many curves and I simply did not care for the ride quality despite it handling better so I removed and sold my bar. To ensure I wasn't crazy I removed and re-installed the bar twice to test the difference and I found it noticeable. Most will tell you that they didn't notice a difference.

Adding a rear anti-roll bar is one of the best mods you can make to any vehicle that spends most of it's time on pavement / asphalt. Hellwig makes a HD version that is extra nice if you haul or tow heavy loads.

    I wouldn't own a truck that I couldn't install an anti-roll bar on.

I installed the rear first and it was night and day difference for me. After about 4k miles I upgraded the front to one from a sequoia and it was very noticeable. Literally no tire edge wear after that.

I did the same but with the TRD front. It really felt like it completed the RSB

Is the trd a solid or hollow? The sequoia one double the wall thickness than the oem swaybar.

I believe it is solid. Was twice as heavy as OEM.

Hmm... I might have to look into it. The sequoia one was also way heavier.at the time trd front was not out.

Big difference. I also got the TRD front sway bar which is much beefier as well. Huge difference. Truck drives like a dream.

I may upgrade to to Hellwig rear bar if the offer, or if I can find short end links. I have resisted changing the front bar because I have read that it increases the chance for bed bounce on the short wheelbase trucks. Has anyone run into this on their RCSB?

I have the 2018 TRD Sport model with front and rear sway bars. I will tell you the difference between the 2 drives is that you can drink beer from a glass with sway bars on vs having to use the can or bottle without. Just kidding!

The real truth for me at my age is that I go off road out here in the desert pretty regularly but don't depart from most trails, so having them on doesn't make much of a difference in that situation. When I am on the highway (lots of twisty turns and hills out here) they help.

Notice that I mention my situation. I am not hard riding off road with this vehicle. I leave it up to the FJ TT edition in the yard.

A lot of people say they feel a major difference when adding it. I added it more for looks, I like the red TRD at the bottom rear :)
I also got lucky and got a great deal but in the end, cannot tell a difference

It looks like he’s lowered the rear by putting the leafs below the rear axel. That’s why it would be mounted in that non traditional fashion. I think that’s why he’s wanting shorter end links.
