Anybody notice the newer vehicles and their crappy hard to notice front turn signal corner lights?

Nobody seems to use turn signals anymore, but when they do their poor design makes them hard to see until they are right up on you.

 

Makes you think they’re a jerk and not signaling when they really are. It’s hard to take back a glare like that

 

Not a bad idea but I doubt pinching is gonna bring this back.


What site did you find those on though?

Makes me hesitate to pull into oncoming traffic when they are slowing down to turn but can’t see their signal. Definitely not a vision thing. The new lighting designs are awful even up close. Scared of a t-bone.

 

So trucks aligned (at least according To the machine. I’ll put it back up next week if I get an chance to double check)


Found out my steering shaft seal is beyond destroyed... so new one ordered

Save some clams and go to big box and get the proper diameter ‘backer rod’ and stuff the piping channel with the backer rod with some caulk to hold in place. I did the same fix on my footwell. Holding nicely.

 

Also, this truck in the snow is damn near useless unless your in 4x4. Oh well Didn’t plan on it ever really being in snow

 

Aren't all RWD trucks useless in snow? My dad had 2WD Mazda pickups growing up. Every winter he would add weight to the bed. They were pathetic. I'd rather be in a Civic than a RWD truck in the snow.

 

I bet it gets Lucy goosy super easy, probably scary easy

 

Try a junkyard first. Also, check the drip molding on the roof. It could be causing the noise.

Oh wells tundra in 4x4 is still mediocre. But it’s all from a lack of weight. I was expecting the snow later in the night. Didn’t mean to have the truck out in this

 

I wish it was that easy, not only do I live in an actual desert, I also live in a business desert. The only pick-a-part around here sucks. I called about a door panel. Nope, only sell the whole door. Driver seat, nope, only sell all the seats together. I’m sure if I called about a rear view, they would try to make me buy the whole windshield.

The next closest one is over a hundred miles away.

I’ll definitely check on that drip molding though.

Not sure if the AC trucks are the same but my DC the door weatherstripping has an interior colored strip attached. I looked for an alternative but ultimately spent the $350 for new pieces from Cool Springs.

 

Yeah, it is one continuous piece that grabs the pinch weld and over hangs all of the interior pieces and matches their color.

Could easily see this being Toyota only.

 

$3 dollar backer rod and some dabs of caulk. Stuff rod in the piping. Flap whats left of the OEM flaps over the stuffed rod. Let dry. Spray paint black.

Or, $130 seal plus $15 shipping for new part.

Oh trust me I'm on board. I was thinking about that liquid electrical tape rather than caulk, but honestly, that's an area where I'm clueless. I can be rather knowledgeable in a lot of different fields, but when it comes to adhesives and things of that nature, I do that weird, dog, head tilt thing when walking down that aisle.

So quick question. Is it possible to "un-press" whatever is pressed on too far on my axles? I found a 20 ton press big enough for the axle and have the rear bearing press tool thingy. Like maybe slide something under the tone ring and press the axle down? Or press the studs out and pull the backing plate off? Or am I treading new ground?

 

Isn’t that tool meant to be a removal and a install tool? I thought it was. I bet Timmy the tools persons video will explain it

 

I think so, but not 100% sure. I might have to watch that and see. Things might happen this weekend...

 

From my vast knowledge on the subject (good and bad) those can be pressed off. Pros would say use new ones, but if they press off neatly then you can try and re-use them. You most likely will be ok, but it is a huge risk after everything is put back and it leaks.

I’d press everything off completely and then start again pressing back on with the reused parts. Inspect the shaft for damage by others prior. Should be a smooth polished surface.

What's the general consensus about towing with the use of a high-clearance rear bumper?
I have an email into Coastal Off Road for their input as I'm after one of their bumpers. But I'm curious what you all think as you're unlikely to be trying to close a sale.

I only have to tow my ~2200lb 911 and whatever trailer I can borrow. So I don't need to move the Earth.

 

I have that tool and have used it to replace my axle bearings. Yes, it's made for the removal and installation of the bearings, ABS tone ring, and seal races. The red part is meant to go behind/under the ABS tone ring, then bolt it to the large tube piece and press the tone ring and seal race off together. Unfortunately, it looks like your's are pressed on so far that there isn't room for the red piece to fit... is that correct?

The bearings and tone rings are new. I don't want to fully remove them, just pull them off enough to get them in spec.

 

Give it a try. You got the tools to satisfy. Report back and testify.

 

Right, that’s all you need to do. The question is: can you get that red piece from the tool behind/under the ABS tone ring?
