I was motivated to build this mount because I saw someone else do something very similar. This is just a basic piece of 18"x2"x1/8" thick aluminum painted and mounted on the legs of the driver seat. The screws are countersunk and are threaded into a painted piece of wood on the backside. The fire extinguisher came with a wall mount so I just added it to my bracket and boom. It doesn't interfere with my feet when I'm driving and I forget that it's there. I only notice the red color when I get in the truck. Very simple and could come in very handy.IMG_20200201_142307.jpgIMG_20200201_142557.jpg IMG_20200201_142654.jpg

Welp, today I screwed the pooch. Was planning on changing the rear diff fluid. Was using a piece of 6 inch tubing to help pour in the new fluid when my hand slipped. Guess where the tubing is lol. Any suggestions? Going to try using a claw tool to fish it out. Hopefully that will wotk.

As much as I love the drop out diff that Toyota uses, times like this would be great, if they had a diff cover. On the bright side, if you can't fish it out, it's not hard to take the diff out. Good luck.

Did you do the skid plate yourself? I need to take mine off to put on the TRD sway bar and then re install. Just curious how much of a pain it might be to do by myself?

Good question and no it does not interfere with the seat travel. My wife refuses to drive my truck so the seat never moves.

You can do it, not too difficult at all by yourself. I used my hydraulic work stool for working on the motorcycles to place the skid plate on, wheel it into place, and raise it up. From there, you just slide the front of the skid plate into the temporary installed front bolts of the tow hooks you have to remove. Then, start to secure with the middle Allen bolt with the square jack support above first, and the rest should just line up fairly easy.
Since you have the tow hooks off at this point, go ahead and paint them Duplicolor Super Red II to match the front and rear sway bar. Got the paint at NAPA for $10.

Yep. Taped off the area I wanted to paint. Scuffed the area up. Hit it with adhesion promoter then spray on bed liner.

The back is hard see because I painted the wood strip black and it's dark under the seat. I'll tell you that it's roughly 17" long and 1" square. I used 1¾" course wood screws that go through the aluminum and get good bite in the wood strip on the back. Pretty straight forward and took about an hour to complete.

So I was able to fix the problem today, at least for now. Took a bit of trouble shooting but I got them working. After my fuse set showed up, I plugged both stock lights back in. They worked fine so I decided to try one Cali Raised fog at a time. The drivers side was fine, so I unplugged that. After plugging in the passenger side and turning it on, it immediately blew the fuse. So I replaced the fuse, pulled the wiring adapter from that light, and did a polarity swap. Same thing happened. So then I took the good adapter from the driver side and tested it on the passenger light and it worked fine. With that done I narrowed it down to the passenger side adapter, now on the drivers light. What was weird though is that I did another polarity swap, taking it back to how I first had it, and tried it with success on the drivers side light.

So long story short I have no idea what fixed it, other than swapping adapters from one side to the other. Even the guy at Cali Raised thought it was weird that that was the fix. So hopefully this holds and I don't have to mess with it again. I think in total I went through 5 or 6 fuses before I finally got this to work. Thank god they're so cheap.
