Behind seat Measurements

So I found a guy locally that will build me a box in the back. does anyone have max dimensions that I can send this to him. I know several people have build boxes to fit behind here I just didn’t want to screw anything up

 

I don't know the dimensions but have to ask. There are several places to buy a box, haven't you found anything you like?

And that's the problem that you are going to have. In a Crewmax, the deepest mounting depth, for a sub, is going to be just under 5" (depending on magnet circumference). I think T a c o Tunes has a new fiberglass box that will give you a little more mounting depth, but not much. There's only so much room to work with.

 

If you're planning to put them behind the seat I don't think its possible. I believe you need to rip out carpet and foam underneath the rear seats and make an up-firing enclosure to fit a larger sub.

 

Yea I may do a 4-8” subs but still have to be careful with airspace and depth ! It just sucks LoL

 

I have two Sundown sd3 10’s ported, behind the back seat. They are just under 4.5” deep with an inverted motor. The back of the box is notched and fiberglassed to accommodate the depth. With the seats installed, it’s tight but nothing hits. There’s no way you’re getting anything with a standard motor structure and more than 4.5” behind the seat and actually have the seats in place.

 

I would imagine these hit pretty hard

 

Why not run 4 Skar EVL-65's....you would have plenty of depth and air space calculations may be better

i had 1 XFire Audio 6.5" sub in my 99 Tacoma in a custom ported box that fit between my jump seats and it hit harder than the RE Audio 10" sub i had in a ported box previously

But like everyone else has said I would just talk to James at Tech12Volts and explain to him what you are looking for and I would imagine he can hook you up...or at least give you all the knowledge on what you will need...he has lots and lots of experience with Tundras

 

I think I have the same box as @Danman34 . I'm attaching a side profile picture showing just how little room there is behind the seats. Like Danny said, you can't make the box any larger and have it still fit behind the seat. I have 2 JL 10"s in mine and have to dial them back - plenty of bass for these cabs IMO.

 

With over 1000 watts to them, they get louder than I would ever need for extended periods haha. They can def hit you in the gut.

 

Dude u ported those? Ive been wondering how they sound ported as they only recommend a sealed enclosure on their website. Whats the net vol and the tuning?

 

Yep. It can certainly be done. The box is built to spec based off the parameters. It’s about 1cf @34hz.

They sound phenomenal with all music. Very accurate but they can get down and vibrate the truck apart lol. At least it feels like they are. And I did a lot of sound deadening and dampening. But I still worry about the back glass when it’s really loud haha

 

Dude that awesome. I literally have nearly the same exact specs on a box that i made myself. I was on a budget when i did the setup so i bought some cheap pioneers which are more than getting the job done, but i want a little more. Its just difficult finding subs that work in 1 ft^3 ported. I made the port front fire, it helps get the sound out into the cabin.

 

can you give me the dimensions? i could use a round pvc port so the vent would not take up space inside.

Do you think this box would fit in the back of an 08 tundra crewmax if I took out the jack storage and the back panel if needed I also don’t mind moving my seats up some

 

I’m not sure if 07-13s have a different rear seat or not. So I can’t honestly say if it will or not.

 

07-13 has a completely better back seat. It can slide, recline, and accommodate audio better than any 14+ ever could. Us 3rd gen audiophiles have 2 options, an almost 2k shipped tAwkohtewnz unloaded fiberglass box, or what me and a couple others have done. (Box price roughly 150-200 materials, ~1 ft^3 per sub, and shallow). 2nd gen can run non-shallow at spec without sacrificing anything. Just need the right builder.

 

Thank you ,I am looking for a builder so I could fit 2 SA 10”s .Dp you think it’s worth all the trouble for to fit the SA 10”s when right now I could throw some shallow sundown sld, SD2, or e series in there?
