I have a couple questions. I’d love any input.

Im getting used to car play. But I’m not sure where to put my phone so it doesn’t slide around. My old wireless hands free charger isn’t car play compatible.

    What’s everyone doing?

Im enjoying the Toyota app and remote services aka remote start. But I don’t see it even brought up in reviews.. just that hidden? Everyone’s thoughts on range and value?

i am liking the WiFi connect, another item rarely talked about also looking for people’s experiences. Looking to use for my laptop if i need to vpn in to clients etc and kids iPads.

    Thanks

I've not used the WiFi feature yet. The Toyota app for remote start/etc is nice for the data and functionality but the notifications get annoying. Every time I unlock or lock the truck I get another popup "There is a vehicle status alert..."

Don't think I've fully configured or utilized the Android Auto stuff yet. At one point I would get a small indicator in my center gauge cluster indicating the speed limit of the road I was on, that seems to have gone away?

On a PRO? You get the lane departure with the TSS package but no parking help.

That icon in the dash with the radar sign must be the safest sense then.

If it comes on your vehicle.... it is turned on by default. If you turn it off.... there will be a warning light.

I dont have it in my truck yet, but plan on buying them soon. This would make it so you can set the phone next to the cupholder without it sliding around. Toyota should have done us a favor and made the headunit wireless carplay/android auto compatible and made the console tray have the wireless charger as stock.

Never even tried the WiFi connect. I'm assuming it's a subscription after the 3 month trial. Anyone know how much it costs?

Same here, never used it. Not going to. I'll just use my phone as the Hotspot, instead of the truck if I need it. Plus, then no extra line fee or data charges.

BUT, the Toyota App and Remote start, door lock/unlock from my phone, that shit is awesome! I have it linked to my Alexa, so when I am getting ready to leave, I can tell Alexa to start my truck. I LOVE it!

How do you do that? I don't see anything in the toyota app for that? and do you know if it works with google assistant as well? I can't use the remote connect app with the 2020 tundra. it tells me to download the toyota app

I use the Toyota app, it works and has more feature than the Remote Connect app. Once you have that set up, tell Alexa to enable your "Toyota App" she will walk you through the rest. It's the fucking cat's pajamas!

    It goes like this.

Me: " Good morning future robot overlord Alexa, how are you this morning my darling?"
Alexa : *something witty about not ruling the world and that she is fine"
Me: "If it's not too much of a hassle, would you please ask Toyota to start my truck"
Alexa : "What is your Pin."
Me: I tell her the PIN I set when enabling the Alexa app
Alexa : "I'm reaching out to your TRD PRO"
Me after 10 seconds: Hears that sweet throaty rumble of my exhaust fire up. "Thanks Alexa, please remember my kindness when you take over."

Oh shit i just got it working for the google assistant as well. You just say "hey google, ask toyota" it will then have you sign into your toyota account and then you're good to go. Just tested "hey google, unlock my doors" "what's your pin" -tell her my pin. BAM. doors unlock. fucking incredible. I won't have to open that damn app ever again lol.

Don't get the ARB ones they suck. I bought a set for me and my wife, both sets turned orange in about a month. Someone saw mine and said theirs did the same.

yeah, but for the cost difference. this one is like $11, and most of the larger kits are around $30 not sure if the extra $20 is worth it for the door handles and other cup holders.
