3 hrs into working on the truck. Almost all together. Just have to zip down the steering rack and give it an eyeball alignment then I’ll take it tomorrow to align it at work. Friday go get the cap.

Need to run the backup camera too.

Oh the previous owner of my
Truck stopped in the dealer to drop off extra keys he found. showed him
Pictures of the truck, I swear he almost had a tear in his eye.
He loved this thing, was the first new vehicle he’d ever bought and it was the most reliable.

That's awesome. Sometimes I think about digging up the number for the previous owner of my truck to send him some pictures. I told him what I was going to do but I don't think he believed or understood me.

I am going to try this SuperTech Gear Oil from Wally Wurrll. It ticks the boxes for GL-5 and Limited Slip in the 75w-90 spec. Priced nicely at $6.99 a quart for full synthetic.

I’ll be doing the transfer case and front diffs soon with this stuff.

I bought some in preparation to empty my diff to do the axles again. That a steal compared to the $12 a bottle vatozone charges.

Yeah. I like Mobil1 at $12.99 quart, but Farm Project guy tested this SuperTech stuff and it did well. As long as it meets LS and GL-5 it should be good. Read a few 1stGen Tundra good reviews on the WallyWuurll site which gives confidence. Half price is huggee.

I never did hear the story behind this. I saw it had Florida plates. Did the owner move up to Chicago and just lose control in the snow after not having a ton of experience in it?

Not a big bead lock and rivets guy, but since you asked I like the silver original rivets better.

I don't like them either. At all... But I thought they would stand out less if I switched them to black. Thanks for the honest feedback though. I'll meditate on it.

Been meaning to share this. You'll get a kick out of my stupidity. Our trucks require the column shifter to be pulled towards the driver, then down, before going from Park into Reverse. Well, because of this, for the last 4 years I had always assumed you have to do the same thing to from Reverse into Drive. It wasn't until recently that I discovered that you could simply pop it straight down from R into D without having to pull it towards myself first. FOUR YEARS... This is my first vehicle with the gear selector on the column.

I feel better getting that off my chest.

I hear ya. If you got it, then rock it is my mantra.

I’m committing to spraying the Patrick Editions today with a Silver Match. There are many similar Metallic Silvers, so which one is TBD today when I go look. I’ll get rid of the black center cap look and paint it the same color as the wheels bringing it back to OEM.

Duplicolor Acrylic Lacquer is the go to on this one.

A test sanding with some emory cloth shows these should clean up nicely and accept a proper finish coat.

Just make sure you have the brake pedal depressed when shifting into D. Something in the manual book about the torque convertor needs the brake pressed (even though you can shift without pressing).

He doesn’t remember. Just a blur. It was a shitty icy night. Considering how tail happy this truck is I’m guessing it just lost traction and that was that.

C4D2A510-67AC-4B6D-9D43-169F48E1AAED.jpg Water and refrigeration don’t mix well! McDogals uses a system called “multiplex” that refer lines go into a huge water bath and forms ice to keep the carb water cold and syrup lines cold(if they aren’t cold the drinks loose their fizz by time the customer gets the drink)
Well this one sprung a leak in the refer tubing; on the suction line as it exits the unit. The unit was in a vacuum on the low side......therefore it’s been sucking water into the refer piping system for who knows how long. Water turns oil into acid and will trash the system in no time! A new unit is very expensive but this unit needs to hit the pasture; born in 1998

Anyone *cough @empty_lord cough* have a suggestion on where I could pick one of these guys up, or maybe even a part number? Ive been doing the whole Noico treatment over the past few weekends and now that Ive gotten rid of the road noise, I can hear a wind whistle. It's really no secret where its coming from because I can see where the weatherstripping has worn through and torn. I wish I had a decent pick a part out here but that wont change any time soon.

On the topic of Noico. I added copious amounts of it to all 4 doors on the Rav4 and both my wife and I agreed it made zero improvement. Maybe because her cab is a a lot bigger than my truck or maybe it needs to be applied to the floorboards but her car still has a ton of road noise.

    I'm told they're likely SCS Ray10's.

Depending on your condition of your gaskets, you can clean them up real good and spray some silicone spray on them to refresh. Also, try pinching them to fluff them back out.

I had a tear, of the footwell portion of my gasket, about 6” long and stuffed some bridged some backer rod the diameter of the gasket piping inside with some caulking. Makes a great seal again.
