Advice needed for Sound Deadening

Soon I plan to start Sound Deadening my truck and wife’s 4Runner. I’m not looking to upgrade any stereo equipment at the moment. Primarily looking to quite down the road noise and incab sound quality. The Toyota’s are not the quietest vehicle’s I’ve owned but the positives far outweigh the negatives.

So question. I’m going to need Butyl, MLV, and CCF sheets. What goes where exactly? I’m looking for guidance on doors, floor, back wall, firewall, and eventually headliner. I have a Double Cab tundra and plan to do this in sections over a few weekends. Thanks

I put Dynamat on the rear wall and floor, then Dynaliner on the back wall, back floor, and under the seat..
Dynamat on the doors too, inside of the outside skin and some on the outer panel.
Bought it all on Amazon.
There are several other options other than Dynamat.
A roller really helped on the install.

I think I over did the doors because they are really heavy.
I'd like to do my roof, but don't the time or the will to do it.





If I had it to do over, I wouldn't put this much on the outside panel of the doors.
I think getting the inside skin is more important.

 

I did noico, ccf, mlv, and some heat insulation and followed the steps on sound deadener showdown and it really worked out well. Highly recommend checking out that website

 

That is a great website. The how to section is great. I’ve read some conflicting things though. Some say to cover every square inch and some say to place tiles strategically.


@1lowlife thank you for sharing. I wanna do the roof but the headliner will be a bitch to remove since I don’t have a rear roll down window!

 

No need for full coverage or even half coverage with the CLD tiles. Most of the sound deadening comes from the MLV
