Parked my truck far away yesterday in a parking garage and found a note from a Samaritan stating a minivan had hit my right rear bumper. What are your thoughts? Do I need to repaint this section? At least there isn’t a physical dent but I see two little gouges. Should I contact my insurance? Sucks to have my 3 month old truck already not pristine.
    Thanks

It's nice that the Samaritan left a note but I doubt that will stand up as a witness statement. Just get it painted if it bothers ya.

That bites. I'd still try to run it down. I hate hit and runs. Been on the receiving end of 4 of them, and it sucks, even if it's minor. People now days just suck.:censored:

I would be pissed no matter how old or new it is. From the pictures, it looks like the paint marks will come off with Turtle Wax rubbing compound.

    Not enough....
Man, that's normal wear and tear in Philly :D

But yeah, I'm sure just a little buffing compound could take care of that.

I'd call your insurance company and see what they say, give them the info and they will try to contact the other persons insurance and maybe wave your deductible. The adjuster will be able to go and look at the other vehicle too which could show the the paint from your truck in there's. Worth a shot.

Dang that sucks! This happened to me years ago but the damage was way worse and the note read “I hit your truck, a lot of people are watching so I’m pretending to write down my info. Good luck!” So at least you got a plate#

Just called the insurance and gave them the License Plate. Looks like they will start tracking down that car now!

Success. Got approval from other insurance company after reviewing photos of their car. The damage matched my pictures!

Glad you got em. Unfortunately from experience I would’ve let that one ride and buffed it out or paid for it on my own. Had a similar experience on my wife’s car with minimal damage but the driver stayed and took responsibility. Fast forward and it shows up on the carfax when I’m trying to sell the car. Doesn’t show as an accident but “damage reported”. No one knows what that is so im confident I didn’t get as many inquiries as I would have if it wasn’t reported. Some folks asked and I told them it was just a tap and I have the receipt to prove what was done and how minor it was. Some walked away after the story. I’m sure I had to sell for less than I would’ve gotten otherwise.
