We had the second day of tryouts for travel league today. Still a couple months before we see a field though. Northern kids can't compete with the kids that can play year round.

My son could probably get a nice offer from NE schools or around Great Lakes. He doesn't want to go off that far away.

Those kids who play year round are the ones who end up getting Tommy John surgery. I can not believe that this hasn't been addressed. By the time they reach the pro level they have thrown more innings than they ever will in MLB, then end up with innings limits. Back in the day kids played baseball a few months but them football and basketball or maybe hockey. Those are the days of throwing 300 innings per season and a dozen complete games. Kids can play of 3 different teams year round and just throw and throw. Yeah they are good because of it but it's the innings before you reach the big show that wear out that arm. Something had to give.

Valid point, we are in the middle of indoor soccer season here. No basketball because I can't stand the sport, and can't afford hockey.

We/They are getting more wise to year round play hazards and many coaches/parents have pitch count limits for games & seasons. In high school they play very little fall ball, and focus on strength and conditioning.

Been busy as shit lately, always something to do. Usually we try to get a camping trip in every 6 weeks or so but it's been 3 months since our last trip. Finally we have nothing to do in a couple of weeks and have decided to take a couple of days off and go. Hopefully no crappy weather rolls in or anything, but at this point I'm going no matter what.
    Our setup:

Yep, fastest color Tundra ever made. So fast that Toyota stopped using it cause it embarrassed all the other Tundras.
