TRD Air Filter

I'm thinking about buying the TRD air filter? Will it change the sound at all?

 

Just the filter? Not much if at all. Maybe a little deeper under full throttle.

 

Yea, just the filter at the moment. Is it worth buying the trd air intake? I've heard mixed reviews on tree trd intake.

 

I don’t have it. I just have an AFE drop in filter And airflow accelerator that I got for about $13. It’s the small part that goes from your box to the fender. That’s part of the TRD kit you can buy separately. The TRD box is just a bigger lid, filter, along with a smoother tube into the throttlebody. Not much gains to be had. But it is eye candy.
There are probably 100+ threads on it around here if you search thread titles only it should pop up in the search better than just a standard search.

 

Notice any sound difference after the drop in air filter?

 

I have the TRD air filter and the air flow accelerator which is the first piece of the TRD CAI. I bought a K&N cleaning kit for the filter as I read it's better than the TRD cleaning kit. I get a whistle but that can be cured. He's a video about the air flow accelerator.

I like to think that there was, the butt dyno said so... Seems like in the upper RPM, it pulls a little harder. But it definitely could be placebo. Either way I’m happy with what I’ve done. I throw in the paper element if I’m going to be in dusty conditions.

 

Not really that I can tell but I am running a Dirty Deeds 8" BA exhaust.

With the drop in air filter and airflow accelerator, I’m only into the intake about 80 bucks. And I’d be willing to bet it’s similar gains to the full intake system. Although I have had my eye on the Afe Super stock.

Don’t really believe the gains that they claim but I do like that you keep your factory box and just replace the tube.

 

This is a dead horse beaten. CAIs are a waste of money. Save it for something else.

 

He's not asking about a CAI he's just asking about the drop in lifetime filter.

I'm familiar with what it is. Run what comes in your truck and save the money for mods that are worth it. Unless of course you are in need of a replacement at the moment.

 

I bought it simply because it's lifetime and not disposable paper element.

 

Yeah and to each their own and that is my opinion only. Not knocking ya for it. Just try and help folks save money on stuff they may or may not need ya know?

I plan on dropping a Harrop in my 2020 and blowing some rods through the hood so I try and save money sometimes lol.

 

I ain't got it like that lol so my mods are few and on the cheaper side. But please post up when you get that bad boy wrapped up!!

 

Haha getting my Nitros in first then Harrop probably early 2021. Need to take advantage of some of this warranty while I have it lol.
