I’ve put about 1000 miles on the new Toytec/Boss 4x4’s suspension and wanted to do a bit of a write up/short term review.

    Front Suspension:
    Toytec Aluma 2.5 Coilovers
    SPC Adjustable UCA’s

Coilovers are set to the height they shipped as, looks slightly higher than the 3” spacer I had previously

    Rear Suspension:
    Toytec Boss 2.0 w/ resi
    Atlas Mini Pack +2”

    Wheels and Tires:
    18x9 +25 Method NV 305
    295/70r18 Yokohama Geolandar M/T

I decided to install suspension myself, which went smoother than expected thanks to Boss 4x4’s great customer service and availability for any issues I had.

Before this I had factory platinum suspension with 3/1 Spacer level, and the ride was pretty horrible. Since having this suspension I’ve taken it on the highway, driven around town (which has roads worse than Louisiana), off road trails, washboard roads, and mild whoops. This suspension has impressed me every step of the way and I couldn’t be happier. It’s a bit stiffer than factory at low speeds, but as you get above 30 or so it soaks up every bump and dip that used to rattle my brain on the old suspension.

Off-road handling is impressive, with wheel travel and flex both being indicative of a good mid travel setup. You can practically go over dips in the road at any speed and be comfortable. Compared to my friends tundra with 6112/5160 Bilsteins, the ride is noticeably better on the road with off-road performance being slightly better. While I haven’t put any heavy loads in the bed, the mini packs give a perfect stance and are noticeably stiffer with a couple hundred pounds in the bed.

Overall, I’d first recommend going to Darren Schmid if you want to make your Tundra more capable and I would definitely take a look at this setup if you’re looking at the 6112/5160 setup and want something a little more.

Bonus: the anodized red coilovers look awesome in the sun and let people know you decided to ditch your spacer lift

Jello of the Toytec Aluma 2.5. I think they are a bit better than the Radflo.

Nice. I'm getting ready to go from a 3/2 Readylift spacer kit to the original Boss kit. I already have the SPC's sitting in the garage.

Yup. Got this from Darren as well. Figured this would suit my needs. My understanding is the Radflo and Aluma 2.5s are essentially the same, just the Alumas have that sweet anodized red hah.

So Boss4x4 has the Toytecs cheaper than Toytec? I thought the prices were the same on both sites.

Oh I have no idea about pricing to be honest. I would call and speak to Darren about that. Theyve recently changed their name from Boss4x4s to Boss Offroad too fyi.

Good choice. Was confusing with Boss4x4 and Boss4x4s being two different companies.

Hey OP, I am waiting on my Toytec Aluma kit to get in, did you have any rubbing issues with your wheel tire setup at 295/70? I'm also getting a 295/70 but my wheels will be +20 offset. just wondering if you had to do any trimming ect.. How was the install?

I have previously removed the bumper splash guards but other than that no rubbing. I did have rubbing switching from Ridge Graps to MT’s and after Toytec installation there is no more rubbing.

Another question for OP when you did your install. What did you set your UCA at initially?

I set them to recommended +1 but they were way off. Driving to alignment shop you could hear tire lugs coming off the ground.

I got the same set up minus the atlas pack... CB +3 instead. In about a year I'm going to throw an AAL in there. I love mine.

What’s your fender to hub height? Front is looking a little lower than rear on mine so I wanna double check heights.

Let me get back to you tomorrow. I have to see if I saved my numbers, but if not I can get back to you tomorrow. I installed them as they came. I'm slightly front end high but I can live with it. Bump me for a reminder if I get sidetracked

@RevTheTundra22 Dude those look amazing. I'm getting close to pulling the trigger on mine and wasnt till the other day that I was set on Icon stage 1 but didnt know that ToyTec came out with these last year and they look awesome as hell. Any major issues so far except price point?

@Ckatz53 and you got yours from @BOSS4x4s ? I'm confused (go easy on me noob as hell even though I read just about every forum that deals with what I'm trying too do) cause I've always heard guys running BOSS ToyTec/Radflo but thought that was a 100% ToyTec product from ToyTec. So now again assuming I'm right, its a product from BOSS offroad?

And if so any difference other than color and top hat? I'm in the same boat that @Johnders2586 was probably in a while back deciding which one to get.

With the ToyTec Radflo on the BOSS offroad website they give you the option to run the kit without the added UCA's so my question is can you run them without new UCA's or do you REALLY need them.

Right now torn between these 3:

@Toytec Lifts ToyTec Alum (suggested I need to run with new UCA's to not damage components)
@BOSS4x4s BOSSed Stage 2 Radflo combo with shackle (again not advertising needing or adding UCA's with basic kit)
@BOSS4x4s BOSSed Icon Stage 1 with shackles.

Boss is the middleman offering the Radflo 2.5 front coilovers with Toytec rear/resis. Im almost positive they can also offer the Aluma 2.5s which are just Toytec's rebrand of the Radflo 2.5 once Toytec and Radflo split ways (someone correct me if i'm wrong on that one).

EDIT: For the UCA question, the theory is up to 3" you're fine with stock UCAs. However, you're changing a lot of the dynamics of the suspension up front. Do you need them? No. Personally Id advise them though. Keep things aligned better and tighter in spec, as well as servicability.

@Ckatz53 Gotcha see now that is a good much needed explanation and makes alot of sense now. So in other words the Aluma 2.5 red coilovers are the exact same as the Radflo 2.5's with black top hat? BUT BOSS could still offer the Alum if I wanted them is what your saying.

Think I've come to realization that either way I'm gonna have to get the UCA's just to keep things safe.

Yes that was how Darren of @BOSS4x4s explained it to me. As to them being able to offer the Alumas in a package, it is just a hunch of mine. They have a good working relationship with Toytec so may be able to source them. Not quite sure. I'd reach out to Boss and ask.
