Neck and shoulder problems forced me to sell off all of my higher recoil long guns, sadly my 12 gauge & .45-70 are gone. .223 / 5.56 NATO and .308 / 7.62 NATO, plus 22 Magnum are what my long guns shoot today.

My latest effort has been to fine tune my light weight M14 modernization project using the Blackfeather RS kit I import from Canada. This CQB-16 type SEI rifle is set up with a 1.5-5x33 Leupold Scout scope... it is configured for a sound suppressor and I believe it is the finest general purpose 16.25" M14 around.

Adding a suppressor to the G41 turned out to be a good thing.

Some day I'll get a chance to shoot a suppressed gun. I need to make a trip to the US specifically to travel places where I can shoot cool stuff.

Today's 9mm is a lot different than what it once was. More and more police forces are making the switch from .40 and .45 to 9. That being said barrier penetration can be a challenge for some 223 loads. I heard a story from a SWAT guy I know of an incident where they were unable to shoot a guy who was hiding behind a plastic garbage can. The bonded rounds they were using disintegrated after making through the first layer of plastic.

Why would anyone want a bolt action .308 with a 12.5" barrel?

Some people hunt in thick timber, where shots don't go out beyond 100 or 200 yards. Having a short, easily pointable rifle is nice in those conditions. My buddy hunts on Vancouver Island and the Queen Charlotte Islands. The longest shot he's made on a deer is 125 yards. Most are sub 100 yards. He's buying one of these rifles specifically for those hunts.

I mean, that's the 2nd most important reason. The most important reason is "because I can". :D
