ok so I've finally got my suspension together just need upper control arms,I'll be running bilstein 6112's and 5160's with Toytec shackles, the question is can I run spacers up front to get 4 inches out of it with adjustable control arms or what have some of you guys done?

Why stack it? It's adjustable, right? I would recommend not to stack lifts. Just my .02

Yes it's adjustable up to 3 inches but I'm seeing if I can feasaibly get any more out of it without any problems

Anything past 3" will start to require either spindle (if 2wd and some 4wd kits) and/or a drop bracket kit.

May I ask what's adjustable to 3". Are you talking about the 6112's or the control arm. I'm just curious, because the 6112's say max setting is 2.75 " @ top setting. Most guy's ive talked to that are running them say they settle down to 2.5"

The control arm will not be the adjustable component of the suspension, it will be the shock (in your case the 6112). To do 3", you would have to do an upper control arm and a full replacement coilover

Thanks for clarifying that. I didn't think control arms were adjustable.

According to this link the 6112 has a top setting of 2.5". Maybe it is really 2.75 but settles down to 2.5" and that is why it is shown that way.
    http://toyteclifts.3dcartstores.com...es-Front-Shock-Kit-for-2007Tundra_p_1455.html

The shock is designed for that height. The more height you add the more that shock can bottom out. If you bottom out the shock too hard you end up with a bent shock because it buckles under the load. Adding small shims will work but not adding multiple shims or combining with a spacer lift.

The toytec spacers only add 1/2 to 3/4 of lift so it's not like a 3" spacer,it should be fine for what I'm doing

I would still not stack spacers on it. Here is a cool article to read article to read up on. It applies to all spacers, not just 3" spacers. If it were me, since I am already spending so much on arms, I would make it worth the while and spend the extra $$ and get uniball upper control arms. That way it eliminates the weak link in the factory suspension which is the balljoint in the upper arm.

Definitely don't stack lifts. But if you do...please take video!

Also x2 on @sdhq_offroad's comment on control arms. When ball joints fail, the whole fucking spindle flies out and bad shit happens. When uniballs fail...you get squeaks.

This is exactly why I made this post,to get different opinions on the do's and dont's with this set up,although I've read many conflicting stories about it I only want to do this once and be done with it.i appreciate everyone's advice and will make my decision based on that.

I run 6112s with 2(driver side lean) 1/4" spacers driver, one passenger. Works fine, ended up at exactly 3" lift.

Dont drive it much, mostly street queen, but when I do, it's like I stole it. Never jumped it or anything crazy, but it has been airborne a time or two, works great so far. No towing. This is the driver side with 2 shims.

Get two coach builder shims and nothing more I'm running them with my fox coilovers you will be at 3in or so and that's all you need anything higher get a drop bracket lift

What kind of downtravel are you getting with that?! I can't imagine much....Also, just curious what do your CV angles look like?

That pic is drooped out. Not sure, 3" is a pretty good MT height while having decent down travel, angles are peachy!

I just wonder what the ride height is and the full droop measurement is with that spacer combo and the coilovers maxed out. I can't see that thing having any down travel at all. max maybe 3 inches of down travel and 5-6inches up travel....For his application though it works no doubt, just curious what the numbers are.

Exactly 3" lift, coilovers hit max droop right before the uca's hit max travel, bumps are shimmed 1/4" and they hit plenty before bottoming. That's the best I can do to providing numbers, but it definitely has full travel, droop to bump. Nothing special, but works good for me. This is how it sits, sorry it's dark and cold.

Why would you add shims if you have fox coilovers? Why not just add preload?

Does it even matter? Loss of downtravel vs the loss of up travel? 1 shim isn't going to make hardly any difference.

I didn't want to preload the hell out of them to get 3in of lift so I added one shim and there's hardly any preload at all maybe two threads showing

A lot of people are running a shim even two with coilovers to either get higher or less preload. I researched it quite a bit before actually doing it.

Just because a lot of people are doing it doesn't make it right. You all know what Abraham Lincoln said about the internet.

Of course it matters. We have IFS trucks with leaf springs. You want the bump travel. 1 shim = 1/4 of an inch. And with the shock angle on the front of these coilovers, that equates to almost a 2:1 ratio which means you are sacrificing 1/2" of bump travel. Separate from the pure ride characteristics, Fox, King, ICON, ADS all design their coilovers to bottom out when the LCA's hit the bump stops on bump travel. Now that you added a spacer to the top of your coilover, you push the entire assembly down. Meaning on bump travel, the shock will bottom out a full 1/2" of travel before the bump stops hit. Which means your awesome bad ass shocks you spent a shit load of money on are now the acting bump stops on your truck. There's absolutely nothing wrong with adding preload (to an extent). Now if you're adding a ton of preload, the spring rate on the coils are wrong.

At the end of the day I don't care who does what to their truck. It's their truck. But adding top plate spacers to an adjustable quality coilover is mind boggling to me. It's like dating a supermodel and only fucking her ugly friend. Each to their own.

These companies also spend a ton of money in R&D to give you a shock that bolts into the stock location that had millions of dollars spent in R&D to design that length around the chassis. By putting shims on a shock, you are essentially saying "You don't know what you are talking about" to everybody that spent all that money in safely designing suspension for you. Sure, it might be fine for your application, but it still doesn't make it right. Like jberry said, swapping to a heavier rate coilspring (600 up to 650) allows you to put less preload on it and still give you the lift you are looking for.

I'm just here to pass knowledge to the people that are researching on how to do it the right way.

How much lift would you guys say this is? I installed my Coilovers this passed Saturday straight out of the box. At first I didn't think it would lift me much because the ring was down enough.
Turns out it gave me a higher lift than I expected making the truck slightly higher in the back than the stock rear end.
The upper control arms uniball looks like it wouldn't take any more "height adjustment" so id consider this a 3" lift right?

Uniball is maxed. You have like 6" of lift.
Have you driven it around to settle the suspension, or is that how it looks after you lowered it off the jack?

Post an overall picture of the truck as well. That just doesn't look right. You didn't by chance order a heavier spring on it did you? You do have room to take preload out of that as well.
