SPC Cam Kit - question about alignment?

Looking at their UCAs because I am about to get new tires and noticed this kit. I assume by "frozen" it means that there are rusted out cam bolts and that prevents you from actually changing anything to make the adjustments necessary to fix the alignment.

I originally read it as it would give you an extra 1.5 degrees each way. But then I thought about it and maybe it was just a total replacement for stock and you don't get any extra out of it. So it would not actually fix the problem I am dealing with, which is that the outer part of my tread on my old tires is showing more wear than I am ok with. Don't really want to put the new UCAs on if I don't have to. Next to no actual off-roading other than gravel road or a deer camp trail.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Replace your OE adjusters with this Cam Bolt Kit from SPC. The OE bolts on Toyota trucks and SUV's are frequently "frozen" and do not allow for adjustment. Remove the frozen bolt assembly and replace it with an SPC cam kit to get up to ±1.50° camber and caster change. OE adjuster assemblies that are severely corroded may require SPC's press tool 40915 for removal, making the job quick and easy.

Old post I know but I believe these just replace frozen cam adjusters. You'll need aftermarket uca that adjust if you're lifted. Cams run out of adjustment from my research on here. I was having the same issue with old tires. Bought new rubber and I bought SPC UCA's. Haven't installed yet but u believe this will fix problem. Small price to pay to protect tire investment

 

The new bolts do allow you to adjust better than the stock ones. My drivers side bolts stripped out. They are not made well. The little points that hold the washer in place wear out quickly. The SPC bolts are designed better and allow you to tight the bolt more than you could with stock.

 

Good to know, had some of those on order too but for whatever reason they never actually shipped to seller just gave me a refund. Did you get yours thru summit racing? Did they come for both sides in 1 kit? Being as it has the (2)...

 

One kit is for one side. The is a front and rear bolt for each front side. I got mine through a local auto parts store. Forgot which one.

 

Forgot to mention. The kit also comes with bolt sleeves to prevent them from freezing when installed.

 

hey, thanks for the input. Were your bushings in there all twisted before you took the old cams out to put new ones in? I think I'm going to have to get replacement bushings from the looks of things or new lower control arms. Shit.

 

Mine drivers side was stripped. It was just spinning and not tightening anymore.

 

I know this is an old thread but the instructions on SPC website says to torque to 150lbs. But OE bolts say to torque at 207lbs. Should I be going to 207? 67lbs less torque seems like a big number.

 

Hey Jimes, what torque spec did you end up using? I recently bought these SPC replacements and was curious of the same thing.

 

Curious as well since I went in for an alignment and only got half the job done. Need to replace my camber bolt. I'm told I'll need to replace my LCAs as well as tie rods and maybe UCAs. I'm currently at 249k mi on my 2011 and rocking the Bilstein 5160/6112.
