I was able to jump in on a group buy and snag a TRD Pro kit from CB. I am going to attempt to install all the parts my self. Last night I tackled the bumper shim kit. Took me about 3hrs figuring out as I went and trying to track down a deep socket 14mm from a neighbor.

All in all it wasn't super difficult. I followed forum write ups for removing the grill and the bumper cowls. The hardest part was removing the actual metal bumper and the extensions. They were torqued down pretty good and rightly so. I didn't have an air ratchet so I had to use a breaker bar to remove the metal bumper and then the bumper extensions. Here are some pics!

If you have questions feel free to ask! I am not a professional, just a weekend warrior who is decent at figuring things out. 57110984907__381C6791-B215-4177-92C9-3701EC35808E.jpg

I will update as I complete more, looking to do the rear shackles this weekend.

Yep! Its to help clear larger tires. After I install the full kit i'm going with 35s.

The grass is greener... the whole time I was thinking dang this is a lot of work to move the bumper .5 inches.

Ok update! I’m on mobile so I am having problems posting pics. Last night I installed the +3 shakles and the bearing drop kit. Did it alone with help from my wife when lining up the new shackle with the leaf spring. I bent the parts in place and she slipped the bolt in. All in all went smooth took about 3/4 hrs alone. But I was figuring out as I went.

Pay attention to the instructions on inserting the new bearing. I did not and I wasted time fighting. More updates coming! You wouldn’t think that little of a lift is noticeable. But it is! The bearing drop kit was very straight forward.

This morning I did the front shims. It is 100% not a single person job. I had a buddy come over half way through and that way a HUGE help. I had to run out and buy an electric impact wrench from Lowe’s rated at 450ftlb and still had trouble with one bolt.

    Before 10D91455-5366-4E31-AA5F-2BEDF0BD4245.jpg
    After

    0D46F5BC-E655-4AF8-B8D1-BFA7AFFC5483.jpg

How we did it was removed the sway bar bolt. Then the strut bolt. And then the 2 bolts holding the rotor to the lower control arm. All of these are EXTREMELY tight and required the electic impact, even one of them the impact couldn’t get and we had to use a large cheater bar.

After we removed all those bolts we unbolted the strut at the top. My buddy stepped on the LCA and pressed down enough for me to slip the bottom of the strut out of the LCA. I then manipulated the rotor and all of the remaining connections while he guided the strut out, we put the shim on. Then we put it all back together.

Notes: the sway bar is a pain to deal with. It is easier to work on putting back together with the wheels on and the truck on the ground. Just make sure you get both side in the LCA pocket before you lower the truck.

I broke one of the bump stop extensions in side the frame (?) so my passenger side currently only has 1 bump stop. The bolt sheared right of wasn’t even really that tight when it happened. I’ll have to drill it out and get a new one I guess. *** ALSO David from CB sent me a brand new bump stop with out me asking so I have to figure out how to drill the old one out.

    Truck rides great!
Next is steering kit (I don’t have the right size wrench to break the jam nut right now)
Then wheel spacers. And then 35s!

You think that bumper extender would hit a Aries 3” bull bar?

I’m not sure depends on how the bar mounts. It legit only pushes the bumper out .5 inches.

OK guys Update time! Tonight I finished installing the CB Steering Kit and the BORA wheel spacers. These 2 things were the easiest of everything to install. If anyone is interested I could prob do a wright up on the steering kit. I used blue loctite on the spacers. And I have an appointment to get a front end alignment tomorrow morning and then a 9:30 am to get the tires. I am super excited! Also very proud to say I am still the only one who has worked on my truck. Except for this wheel alignment that is going to happen tomorrow, and tire rotations that I get done for free at tire discounters. Here are some pics!

I usually don’t like the white letters showing on tires but that looks NICE with cement.

One heads up if you plan to run a 35” spare under the bed. You need to have the bolts for the CB shackles facing outwards in order to fit the full size spare between the beefier shackles - if you have the nuts towards the outside and have removed or bent the spare tire guides should be able to fit it.

Didn’t do a diff drop. Just driveline spacer which did not require removing the skid.

But I’m here to answer any questions.

TBH there wasn't that much of a difference. I think I remember it beeping a little smoother? However, CB says that it improves the turning radius by being able to push the heavy tires farther.

I installed the steering kit before I put the 35s on, I do like how beefy they are.

    Lots.
I ordered my kit from CB today. Spoke with David and he answered all of my questions and gave me install advice as I plan to do it myself. Intend to put 35's on the stock TRD Pro wheels so I purchased the BORA spacers as well. I appreciate the install experience info and pictures, hope mine goes as smooth as yours did.
