I'm genuinely curious here... do you guys actually adjust your mirrors that much that the switch needs to be illuminated?

You and me both, brother. It took me a little while but I found the sweet spot for my mirrors and haven't touched the switch since.

my wifes car has the same switch...if for some reason I have dinks behind me with their brights on I can reach over without looking and adjust my mirrors up to get rid of the glare...what do people have to look at the control for? its pretty hard to mess up a big square with a switch above it. Why arent people angry that the markings on their turn signal stalk arent illuminated?

A similar issue that never seems to get talked about but seems more egregious to me is the fact that when you open your door the footwell lights come on, but the backlighting for the cargo light switch doesnt come on. The cargo light switch is backlit when youre driving and your headlights are on, but when your lights are off, the backlighting is off. That cargo light switch gets used when we arent in the truck and the lights are off...why in the world do we need it lit up when were driving, but no backlighting when we need it? (we need the switch when its dark out and the door is open because we're out of the truck working and dont want to fumble with the other switches that look and feel similar) I ordered a set of 3mm LEDS and bezels to make a simple light that's tied ot the footwell light that lights up the entire cluster (mirror switch as well) but they havent arrived from china yet.

I fold my mirrors twice a day at least and it’s dark out in the winter..

Not everyday, but my lady does drive my truck as well and there is a 1.5' height difference between us, so everything gets adjusted.....a lot. Though not a major inconvenience it is a pain to fumble with this in the dark. This is not even taking into consideration that the mirror controls themselves are placed in the almost asinine place possible save for the drivers side or back seat.

Im not complaining about it, just pointing it out. Vehicles in the mid 90's had this, even the extreme low level ones so its definitely worth mentioning, especially since there are other buttons back lit so it would have been relatively simple to include the rest of the buttons when assembled. Its about moving forward in innovation, not backwards.

When my LEDS show up I'll post a build thread on what I'm doing and I think it will sort this out for everyone. I'll have it tied to the footwell light, but it would be just as simple to tie it to the backlighting of the other switches.

Anyone on here going to be the guinea pig on KTJO's illuminated switch? She has a sale going on right now putting it at ~$150. I would love to pull the trigger but cant bring myself to do it.

The only time I do is after cleaning them. I try not to move mirror when cleaning but it happens. Drove neighbors Prius 1 night and noticed that switch is illuminated. Only thing that bothers me is Prius is lit but not trucks. The readability of the dash when facing sun or wearing sunglasses bothers me more then no light on mirror switch. I had 2 Tacomas and didn't have that issue. Dash was always illuminated on Tacomas.

On the tax issue I don't think there should be sales tax on private sales. Several years ago Texas thought people were screwing them so they started using NADA values and not a bill of sale.
