I own a Tonneau cover for my bed. Except for minor scratches that are buff-outable, it's in like new condition. I bought the truck with it, but am seeking to replace it with a topper.

I have NO CLUE as to what to ask for it. My truck is a '12 double cab with 6 1/2 ft bed.

    Your thoughts?

I got a lomax that arrived yesterday. I’m having trouble getting the cover to lay centered on the side rails, ie even overhangs on both side of the bed and square across the back of the tailgate.
I spent quite a bit of time trying to fine tune the side rail positions but none of it really made much difference, still seems like the cover overlaps the left side rail more then right and the cover doesn’t look square against the tailgate. I’m starting to wonder if the actual bed is of the truck is square.
I’m a little disappointed with the gap I have between the end of the cover and the top edge of the tailgate. It seems easier then I expected for someone to stick ther fingers under the cover lip and rip the cover right up if they really wanted to get in. Hoping some more adjustments with the rail might get the end of the cover to sit lower and tighter to the tailgate.

Mine required no adjusting and fit snug and flat as soon as I dropped it on there. May sure the brackets you install mimic the pictures. The gaps/teeth need to line up for proper installation. I just threw them all on there before realizing the photos were different and the gap between the bracket's teeth and the bed looked different.

If you cant figure it out, I'll pop the cover off and PM you some photos of how mine looks when the sun comes up.

It seems a little better today after the last round of adjustments I made last night and then sitting closed overnight seems to have helped if settle into place a little better. But it’s still not sitting evenly on each side. The left side rail has the frame on the under side of the cover snug up against it and the right side still has a gap. You can also see it looks uneven on the top of the bed rails on each side. This is probably just my OCD and it looks like the cover will function fine but I’m still hoping I can adjust it so the gaps between the rails and the cover frame are the same on both sides and so the latches are engaged evenly on both sides.
I’m not sure if the spray on bedliner might be uneven and causing some issues.

Toyota factory liner or aftermarket? I'll take pics of mine in a bit. Mine sits flush I know that but I never paid much attention to left/right overhang.

@jlarkin1918 here's how mine sits. Flush and even both sides and even against the cab and tailgate. Uses factory bed rails and cleats still installed.

    Thanks for all the pictures.
Good news is I measured everything and double checked all my brackets and everything was installed correctly and the cover itself is square.
Bad news is I figured out the issue is one of my bed sides leans out about a 1/4” up top by the tailgate. So the cover isn’t the problem.
Not sure if it’s even worth worrying about, I’m guessing I’m not the only one with a truck bed that’s out of square.

I've heard of a few folks with this and Toyota responding with essentially "it's a truck, not a luxury car." I love the Lomax tho. Pickup some Aerospace 303 UV protectant for it tho!

Add an UnderCover Armor Flex Tonneau Cover. It comes with a Linex finish, prop rods to hold the cover in place when folded all the way up and a five-year warranty. Pretty dry so far, we have had a ton of ran over the last week and only had a little water at the tailgate. Which I expected to have that issue

10 day update on the Lomax:
I eventually discovered my bed itself was slightly out of square which makes the cover look slightly out of square but it’s not.
I‘m not sure if other low profile cover options would have been better or worse with my bed issues, I’m thinking worse if the seals weren’t big enough to seal tightly while sitting between the bed side rails that are not square.
Even with the install issues and my OCD I still am happy with the Lomax. The seals on the sides are pretty water tight even if the overhang is a little smaller on one side. I’ve been through the car wash a few times and had some highway driving in moderate rain and sleet and the water in the bed has been minimal and mostly by the tailgate.
I think my tailgate sits slightly lower than the sides so the seal isn’t quite as tight, I might look into adding a bigger seal and adding a full tailgate seal kit in the Spring when I have nicer weather for these truck projects.
Overall I’m happy so far with the look and function of the Lomax.

I have an Extang Solid Fold on my 2012 regular bed. It was on the truck when I bought it used in 2019. I like it and it looks good but I do get a little trickle of water in the bed when it rains at the front of the bed, not at the tail gate. I'll investigate where the gap is20200301_101925.jpg when weather warms up here.

I had an Extang 2.0 Solid Fold and it leaked at the joints. (trickles of water only) I went to a Tyger Vinyl trip fold and it was a dry as can be. I now have the Diamondback SE and it is terrific (and dry). Just listed the Tyger locally here in NC

Tyger T1 roll-up cover from Amazon. Fresh install took about 45 mins because I over analyze everything...
I used the bedrail clamps. Went well for the most part. Supposed to rain tonight so i'll see how it holds up.
