With all of the brine and salt that they put down in my area, I'd like to be able to have the Tundra's undercarriage washed from time to time. Other than taking it through a car wash (a definite no-no for me) or doing it myself (I don't want to crawl under it in these brrrr temps),
how can I have this done?

How about using a garden hose and a sprinkler for the time being until it warms up enough? Whenever I come back from the snow and salted roads, I just get down on my knees and blast the underbelly of the truck from all directions. I suggest getting a treatment of some type before the next winter season. Some like to use fluid film, but I know there are others out there.

You only need the power wash gun without the long wand but this kit comes with it and it's hell of a deal on sale now for both.. you can always use it if you want . But I always use the gun inly. I use the wand to clean my concrete patio.

I coated my undercarriage with Amsoil HDMP in November. I crawl around on my knees with a garden hose 1-2/month. I did nothing with my last truck (2014 taco) other than spraying down the undercarriage a couple time each winter with a hose - after 5 winters, some of the frame welds had some surface rust, but it really wasn't too bad. My current truck is new, so this is the first winter. It will be interesting to see how it holds up. I plan to re-apply the Amsoil every fall.

I coated mine in woolwax. Great stuff. a lot thicker than fluid film so it doesn't wash off. I coated mine in early october when I got the truck and it's still all on there, even through all the snow, water and salt. it now has a dirt coating over it, so it's on to stay. You can pressure wash it off, but most people just add to it every year. This year i'm gonna put another coat on in mid summer and then another right before winter. I highly recommend it.

I plan to buy a pressure washer this spring and then get the rolling wand linked above.

I saw some salt-a-way wash on Amazon that I plan to use, and I'll order a case of Amsoil MPHD. Live in North Dakota.

Why is going through a touch less car wash with a good undercarriage wash a no go?

    Some junk
This thread is great. I wanted a pressure washer anyway, but now I am revisiting my thoughts of getting hot water to an outdoor spigot or at least a spigot in my garage. Pressure washing the bottom of my truck with warm water is the kind of thing that just seems right. Especially since I know I still have mud under there from 2 weeks ago in the desert. Having that stuff sit under there for months and get wet every couple days, isn't a good thing.

I've heard the soaps they use are sometomes really harsh. They can eliminate whatever protection you've put on the paint(wax). Think about it, they are going to buy what's cheap, not what's good for our paint.

Honestly, I don’t worry about that. It’s not a show vehicle. It’s a truck. I wax the paint a few times a year and none of my vehicles paint has looked bad, ever. I prefer to protect from rust which will destroy with a quickness.

Cool. You asked so I told you why I don't use them. I think you're better off spaying it with woolwax or Fluid Film before every winter.
