So on my 2020 Crewmax with the 5.7L I've searched on here and decided that i really like the sound the Bamuffler from dirty deeds industries.

My question is fitment and which set to go with. I was looking at either the standard 8" system or the Toyota TRD replacement system.

It looks like the standard 8" system has one exhaust exit in stock location past the rear tire. I don't care about shiny exhaust tips and such.

The TRD replacement system has an exhaust exit behind each rear wheel, I kinda like this better appearance wise, but not set on it.

I'm guessing the mild setup for the TRD will sound about same as 8" system?

I'm 40+ and don't want/need an obnoxiously loud exhaust that drones.

Which setup would be best for me?

    Thanks.

The 8” bolts to factory pipes after the cats and ties in to the stock tail pipe after the mufflers. I would assume 8”or 10” would be what your after. I have the 6” and it’s definitely louder then stock. You can call Keith and he will walk you through it. Great guy.
I go a little extra when I install my Dirty Deeds systems and paint the factory tail pipe section to match. I have never heard the TRD replacement system so can’t speak to that.
    Pictures just cause...

Awesome, thanks. Is it pretty easy to install? Any welding required? I may wind up going with that when i upgrade. Want upgraded sound but not necessarily new shiny tailpipe. Thanks for awesome pictures

so looking at your pics and the pic on their website after the mufflers when they converge to that flange, everything after that will be the stock pieces? In this picture the bottom 3, on the right is the front of the truck where it connects to the cats, then the mufflers, and to the left is where I would attach my stock tailpipe assembly?

Attached picture is from their site

Yes that’s correct. Check out this link (http://dirtydeedsindustries.com/product/standard-8-system/), watch the first video near the bottom. It will show you exactly how it ties in.

Unless you have the TRD dual exhaust setup, you want the 8” standard system. They are not interchangeable systems.

Really easy install. It’s easier if your truck is lifted but not required. I just did it in the driveway with no jacks. Just slide under there. No welding but you do need a 2” hole saw bit to drill the resonator hole. That part takes the longest. You have to fit the resonator then mark the flange and pull out the tailpipe to drill it.

I watched the install video and it didn’t look bad. Should be able to do in driveway.

The resonator looks a little tricky though.

How bad is it without the resonator?

Resonator is easy with a hole saw takes just a few minutes

IMO, you’ll want the resonator. It is also simple. 2” hole saw and about 10 minutes if you take the time to remove the tail pipe to drill the hole.

Ok so maybe I’m confused with video. When he was installing tailpipe section he mentioned seating the gasket by turning and tightening. Would you instead line it up and then mark And cut hole without tightening it up to flange and gasket? Or seat gasket then mark and remove to cut hole.

I marked mine on the truck let it sit and marked the out line of the saddle and then pulled of tail pipe and cut on the ground

I marked the resonator location before removing the stock system. Then I forgot I did that and painted the tail section.:frusty:. So I had to put it back in, mark it again, then drill the hole. Still took less time then letting the paint dry to the touch.

I drilled the resonator in about 30 seconds with a kobalt hole saw....very easy...usually everything I touch turns to crap but the entire install was easy

I think Keith did it that way cause he has a plasma cutter. I would imagine it would be a huge PITA to drill with the pipe in the truck.

I tightened everything up and cut the 2" hole while the pipe was still on the truck. It wasn't that bad...

His system bolts up to the stock piping. If you want TRD replacement, you have to purchase the dual exit.

8" should sound awesome but if you tow, he will recommend 10"

Where are you located, maybe someone local can help you as well!

I went with the TRD exhaust and am keeping my original just incase. The TRD is a Toyota product and won't mess with your warranty, The sound level is just right under all loads. You should buy it at your Toyota dealer for around $1150 out the door no shipping cost. I'm 57 years old.

My truck sits lower than most, and it was pretty easy for my old self to slide under the truck, drill the hole in the tail pipe and install the resonator. Having already relocated the spare to the bed several months prior to installing the cat back, I had plenty of room.

Huh... who would have thought the absence of that spare tire would give you more room..

I took the wife’s out on her 4Runner the day before when I did hers. Turns out that is a useless step as it gives you no more room so I left it in on the Tundra. Plus I was painting mine anyway.

Has anyone purchased a 12 inch system? I have seen vids and reviews of the 6, 8 and 10....would love to hear more about a 12 inch standard system.

since you’re looking at 12” system, I’m assuming you’re thinking more of incab noise?

I asked Keith as I was hesitant ordering the 10”, was thinking of going to 12”, but he said as far as incab, they’re both about the same. Maybe lose a little bit more on the outside though

A catback exhaust won't cause you any warranty issues. If you replace anything from the cats forward they might be able to deny a claim, but only on stuff that it could have caused. You're warranty isn't something that can be voided either. They can deny claims if they can reasonably prove that your modification caused the problem, but it's not a single thing that you can "void" with a mod. For example, if your transmission died on you after you put in a new exhaust they cannot deny that warranty claim because the exhaust did not cause the transmission to fail. Do a search on the Magnusson Moss Act (might have the exact name wrong) and you can see that the dealer talk of voiding warranties is a scare tactic.

I had the 12 inch system on my previous Tundra. Feedback below is based on using tailpipe resonator. Never tried without.

The 12 has a deeper tone compared to stock, with a slight increase in interior volume. Under acceleration, it has a subtle growl, which levels off at around 3000 rpms +/-. The sound doesn’t build throughout the rpm band. It is noticeably louder on the outside compared to stock under heavy throttle. I would put it in between stock and the TRD exhaust on the inside. It pretty much goes quiet around 60 mph when cruising.

It’s a nice system if you want a deep crisp tone, but not a lot of volume.

Thanks for the feedback! Did you do any towing with the 12 inch system? That's really my only concern. Saw a video of the 10 inch and loved the sound but wondered if it may be too much towing a camper for several hours.
