"Premium grade brake fluid designed for all ABS, drum or disc brake systems requiring DOT 3 or DOT 4 fluid. Featuring a high dry boiling point, Valvoline™ Brake Fluid reduces the risk of fluid evaporation and possible brake failure and the low-moisture formula provides excellent vapor lock protection for maximum braking performance, while also gaurding against corrosion.

Patience, work table and numerous pictures....according to how far you go in maintenance, would suggest checking sliders and add grease if necessary. Mine were a little more fun given they have power everything but by hooking a small 12v batt to motor terminal while on bench, was able to exercise all motor functions, clean out old grease and replentish. Get to redo my driver seat once the upholster guy finishes my drivers seat bottom.

Besides what @because_wumbo-truck offers, here’s some I took if it will help. Have others if needed.

Nice recco! Read the stats and the DOT5.1 seems like a huge % increase over both DOT3-4 in performance when comparing the DOT3-4 small difference change.

I’ll be using this next time. Big Gurrl sells Motul for $10 per 16oz. bottle.

Reading my Mityvac manual today and it seems to like Dot5 but stresses that they cannot be mixed. So you'd have to get out all the Dot3 first.

On another page it says silicone based fluid shouldn't be used on vehicles with ABS..

    DOT5 does not equal DOT5.1

    Different fluids.

Well that just brings up questions I didn't know I wanted the answer to. What the hell is in dot5? Picky ass fluid...

I’m learning this DOT5 and DOT5.1 stuff on the fly today.

DOT5 is a rare bird fluid, as per @empty_lord states.

DOT5.1 is some super duper stuff I never knew existed! Compatible with DOT3&4. Check the chart above for details on boiling points. The difference between 3&4 are negligible. The difference in 5.1 over those 2 is yuuggee!

I found if you put a bag over the foam, the leather slides on much easier. Then you can pull the bag out, or just leave it in if it doesn't "crinkle".

Good reviews on this 5.1 stuff. Since you are getting ready for a brake flush are you considering this?

Not this time. I just went to Advance 15 minutes ago(where I spotted the custom bumper) and didn't see any 5.1

I got another bottle of the Valvoline.

I've not been this frustrated in a while. This Mityvac is just not working. I'm able to build a vacuum and hold it, so I know I don't have any leaks. As soon as I crack open the bleeder valve all pressure is lost and no fluid comes out. I watched a video. I'm doing exactly what they say. I'm at a total loss.

I didn't have this issue last time I used that cheap pos bleeder from Advance.

Yeah I was going to try the bag for the headrests because they are tight tight tight.

Front seats are done and about to install now. Still need to do the headrests.
@empty_lord look what I found in the bottom of the box! Looks like they included some remnant material that I'm assuming is intended for door trim. Looks like it's big enough to cover the fabric portion.

Do you need to lubricate the little bleeder nipple so it makes a seal while still sliding over the bleeder screw while turning it with a wrench? My other idea is that maybe your wrench is otherwise disrupting the seal on the bleeder.

I'll try it. I'm putting the wrench on first, then applying the little hose to the bleeder and testing the connection. I'm about to throw the thing so I'm gonna stop before I regret my decisions. :D The entire point of this thing was to make this easier, not harder.

I read that in some of the Mitty Vac reviews. Time for Plan B.

Use my Widdy Wack method. Just poke a hole in the side of a plastic bottle and slide it up over the bleeder valve with your 10mm already on the nut first. Get the Little Honey to pump 5 times. Open bleeder on the second pump and close right at the 5th pump. The juice squirts out in satisfying bursts. Keep going until clear fluid at each valve.

Order of Ops: Pass rear, RLSB Valve, Driver rear, Pass front, Driver front.

Yeah it requires a second person, but it worked just fine. No air. No hoses. Works using the brakes own pressure. Save the earth with recyclables. KISS method.
