Have you tried a dealership? Mine has tons of takeoffs and they are only $300 for all 4.

    Yes.

I paid Goofy Garage $530 (parts and labor for bearing job) and it was returned.

Thats a great idea! Lots of brand new ‘modded’ Tundras on the stealership lot with new aftermarket rims. OEM rims have to sell?

Just be patient and you'll find those. I see them listed for sale regularly here in TN. Maybe Boston is different but I'm sure you can find some.

I can't remember. Is this for both sides or just one? Was only 1 leaking?

You are just making me sway more and more to the side of building a Ford 9" axle for mine instead of regearing the Toyota rear axle.

1 side. 1 bearing. Drivers rear.

Bearing replaced in November. Checked it in December for leak. Took it in and they did whatever?

Checked it again right before Christmas and it was leaking again. Told them lets bring in a specialist. He said I’ll return your money. I said ok and new brake shoes!

Stealer just texted its ready. Will report later.

    Glad to help!

Just spoke with rep at Stealer. Total labor/mats $565 (labor plus ABS ring and snap ring).

Truck drives great. Did some right hand circles in the neighborhood. Will drive it for a few days and then test for leaks.

Wanted to show off my homemade brake bleeder. I call it the Widdy Wack.

(Camper conversion underway.) Rebuilt engine w/265K miles, A.R.E. camper shell (w/cab pass-through, rooftop fan, and side windows delete), bedlinered steel ladder rack (w/wooden rooftop deck and hammock mount), all LED lights (red dash, 4" side floods, 32" rear bar), Android head unit, 1.5" lift from Bilstein 5100 struts, 32" DuraTrac tires on factory rims, 1.5" wheel spacers, Moog suspension parts, SuperSprings leaf kit, diff drop, Reese trailer brake control, GoRhino Hitch Step, debadged, F-150 rear bumper, Sequoia center console unit upgrade, partial rear bench seat delete, dashcam, aftermarket speakers, 50% sound deadening coverage, custom tools unit.
LOVE how thorough your rebuild is. Would enjoy to see all the before and after pics if you have them, is there a dedicated build thread for this? Seems like you should get way more credit than a single message! Also how different is the ride with that rear sway bar?

That's weird cause we have essentially the same truck. 4wd AC v8. 265/75/16s. Pretty much empty. Maybe more miles = more weight.

Went to the manual where it includes the proper weight (that I wrongly pulled from Edmunds search prior which they wrongly quoted). Toyota doesn’t actually quote the curb weight that I can see. You have to back end the conversion.

Gross Vehicle Weight Payload less Payload

    6200 - 1512= 4688lbs empty curb factory weight.

    How much gas in tank?

I’m almost positive I weighed 4750lbs last time on the scales with close to a full tank and 285/75 tires. Empty curb without me in it.

Thank you, this is the 4th First Gen I have gone through... each previous for a family member or for a son/daughter of a friend. Last one (summer 2019) ended up on Lackland AFB in San Antonio TX. (Enjoy it Eddie!!!) (Phantom Grey Pearl stepside)

This current red one was in tough shape interior-wise, solid underneath (new frame by Toyota) but only had "needed" maintenance done by the original owner. I didn't take pics as I went along... posted the steering wheel pics because it is an inexpensive alternative to those who may be in need. Just wanted to share...

The Hellwig is a huge improvement (third truck I have added one). There may be cheaper alternatives, but I like to stick with what I know and have had success with...

Rear bumper and fresh wheels will be the last add-ons, then a full polish and wax...(leaving that to my son!!!)

And I have 3 03/05 4runners under my belt as well... they make GREAT 1st cars for kids up here in MA.

Thats not bad. There is an aftermarket kit online. Set of three for $16ish.

I haven’t bought that kit, as I wedged some blue tape in all 3 of the old broken knobs inserts and they’ve held for many years. I think I epoxied the plastic on one knob. So far so good!

I’ll buy the kit if they break again.
