Even though I live in Minnesota, which is a F150 state, I want a brand new 2020 Tundra, but I want the 8.1 bed and it is only $600 more and the wheelbase is longer, so why is the longer bed so unpopular? I can’t even find one at any of the dealers, so I most likely will have to factory order it.
My question is, the length specifies it is 247.8 inches long and wondering if that is bumper to bumper? Because it would barely fit in my garbage.

I believe the standard box double cab is somewhere around 230" long, give or take an inch. The long bed should be about 19" longer than the standard bed so 248" sounds right.

Side note: I'd kill to have a garage that long.

DCLB 4x4 are kinda rare to see at dealerships.
For whatever reason DCLB never really took off as a service/work truck/ fleet favorite.
Despite being better suited for work than many F-150’s, transits, F-250’s etc.
However they hold their money really well on the used market here in SoCal.

If I had the spare cash I’d buy one just to run as a service vehicle for my HVAC service side business. (I still might if things go well this year) The crew max does the job but a long Bed with contractor rack would be ideal.

My problem is the garage is full of the wife’s stuff and the driveway barely fits our current 2 vehicles.

I have a a DC and the bed is longer than the other models (not the 8') and yes it will not fit in your garage because my DC barely does :)

For some reason lots of Tundra at dealers in the Carolina’s. Was down in Raleigh last year. There is only 10 Tundra’s at dealers 100 miles from my house. I am sure I will have to factory order it.

Yep! That is all I see at dealers here, but don’t need a crew cab, because the bed is too small.

If they made a CCLB I think you’d see a lot more of them. As stated above, the convenience of a CC pretty sweet

I think it will fit if the size is from bumper to bumper? Tundra long bed is 20 feet long and my garage is 22.

ya! That is why I want a long bed for hauling. I live on a farm and my 1999 Suburban finally died and I was hauling goats and everything in it. Just me and my wife, so I don't need a crew cab. Rather have the difference in a long bed.

Unless you really need a crew cab, why not a get a 8.1 foot bed? Only a $600 in price on the 2020 6.5 foot!

That 8.1 bed is LONG! Can't imagine how long a crew with a 8.1 foot bed would be if they made one!

I enjoy my long bed double cab. Works great for hauling kayaks, canoes and paddleboards. With a ladder rack, it would be a great hammock stand as well!

Nice! That is what I am going for. Truck is 20 feet long and my garage is 24 feet. Be nice to have it the garage on days like today, where it is a -15 below zero out here in Minnesota.

I purchased a 2015 DCLB 4x4 in July 2019. I was not looking for new. It took a while to find a LB but I lucked out and found this SR5. I wish I could fit it in my garage but that ain't happenin'.

Do you need the double cab option? They made reg cab long box till 2017 I think. I dont have kids which obviously makes a difference, but if you dont really need the back seat maybe the reg cab could be an option? Nobody wants them so it could save you some money, and there is surprisingly alot of room behind the seats and you could for sure fit in the garage.

The extra chassis length is also a bonus when it comes to trailering, and driving on icy roads. It tracks like a bus!

Ah! I had so much bad luck with used cars in the past, so for the last 20 years I only buy new now. Money is not any option with me though.

That crew only comes with a 5.5 foot bed now, which is way too small for me. I have 2015 Toyota Prius V, which is a really long bigger Prius they no longer make, so that is the passenger vehicle.

The rear seat area of the D/C is great if you have bigger dogs. Flip up the seats, and they have a nice big flat area

I am most likely going to have to buy out of state or factory order it? Minnesota is not a Tundra state, so they are hard to find in general. Ford 150 rules here, but I am sold on the Tundra. One dealer close to me has 8 and they are all crews. I think I a just going to get the Toyota hard cover for the bed, but was debating a topper.

When I bought mine, I used the Costco car buying service, and they got me a great deal on a nearby Tundra. I was expecting to have to drive an hour away.

Another thing to note. Most 8.1 foot Tundras seem to be SR models. You get 3 colors I think. Black(rare), red (more rare) or white(most common). With the limited availability of the long bed d/c Tundras, you will have more color choices in stock at the beginning of the model year. I bought mine in July, and there were just 2 more black 2018s like mine left for sale in the US, that I could find. There were none left that were painted Red by then(at least in 4x4)!
SR5 models may have more color choices, but I never see them with the big bed.
