WKO sliders

So just got the email that my wko sliders are shipping today. I went with the bare metal kinda torn between powder coat and line x any one done either?

 

If your going the bed liner route you can save yourself some money for other mods and raptor line them yourself.

 

This only matters if you’re not planning to off-road and are doing it for rust prevention/ looks. If you’re going to off-road, rattle can it any way you want, so you can touch it up after every run because any time you slide over rocks, it’ll expose bare metal again.

 

Yeah I'm planning to offroad just wanted the best prevention from rust due to where I work at 2 weeks out of the month my truck sits by the gulf

 

Don't powder coat them. With use the powder coating will crack and allow water under it. Rattle can it and touch it up after use.

 

Yeah, I get that. I did powder coating on one set, rattle can paint on another. Neither held up to even one drag over rocks, so both have to be touched up or rust creeps in. So, since rattle can paint is easier than matching rattle can powder, the rattle can black rustoleum is my preferred.

 

Well sounds like rattle can Is gonna be my go to on this couple good coats should help

I did this a few months ago. I used rustoleum truck liner spray cans. Worked great. I love it. The texture is gritty but not too gritty and not too smooth like some liners. After all your using them as steps. I already slid with them so I’ll need to touch it up soon but otherwise no chipping or rubbing off. It’s actually very impressive stuff.

 

Those came out great! I was looking at going a simliar route for my BDS kit since it's starting to chip and show some surface rust. I can vouch for that self etching primer doing a phenomenal job - I coated a set of wheels with it and used duplicolor wheel coating over it and its lasted over 10 years with minimal wear.

 

They’ve come pretty far with aerosol paints and coatings. Thanks for the compliment. The pictures don’t do the texture justice.

 

I kept it simple, spray bomb and grip tape, the tape was new in this pic, the sliders have been on over a year

How do you like the grip tape. Do you ever scrape yourself on it?
