Background: I live on a dirt road that is very poorly maintained and my '15 SR5 4x4 rides like a tractor. I have ridden in my buddies tundra with spacers and it rides similarly if not worse than mine. I have never had a 4x4 and this will be my first time lifting a truck, other than turning the torsion springs and adding helwig spring helpers to my t100 2wd.

I would like a small lift, 2-3", to allow for bigger tires and help with clearance a bit as I go off the beaten track enough that I have been hung up and scraped the frame a couple of times already in a month and a half of ownership. I have been researching and its a bit overwhelming, but here is what I believe to be my situation:

What I want is coilovers to provide the lift as they provide a better ride than simple spacers in the front and will make my daily driving on my crap road much nicer. For 2-3" I likely won't need UCA's (which would be nice) but a diff drop wouldnt hurt and is simple enough to do so I may as well. For the rear I can get a spacer or shackles (not sure which I would want) and/or get new leafs along with better shocks.

    How am I doing sofar?

NOW, here is the kicker. I live in Canada where everything is harder to get and costs a lot more. I am not wealthy and cant afford the best of the best. From what I understand, any decent aftermarket coilover system will be a marked improvement over stock, so I have been looking at some "budget" coilover systems but am having trouble making sense of them. I have been considering the toytec/eibach, OME and the Dobinsons. Are there others to consider?

I cant seem to find a Canadian distributor for the toytec, or the dobinsons, and the only OME I have found were at Tdotperformance.com and were almost $2500 plus tax...

    https://www.tdotperformance.ca/old-...ift-kit-2-5-in-lift-heavy-duty-sport-kit.html

Am I just not searching properly or am I just naive thinking that this seems a bit rich for a "budget" system?

When I was looking into Toytec, I seem to remember someone telling me that he Lloydminster Toyota dealership was a distributor. I never followed up on it so can't confirm that though. I do know that Toytec's BOSS system would be pushing $3500 CAD after exchange, shipping etc.

I ended up going with Bilstien 5100 shocks. They may be a stiffer ride than you want however. OME stuff is great, but I can't speak to TDot'd pricing as I haven't shopped it out. I believe Cap-It is an OME dealer so you could try them.

In your estimation do you think I'm SOL trying to get this for under 2k?

From what I saw when looking at suspension I would say yes, at least for high quality stuff. Other people may know of something else or other options but from what I saw, quality coil overs will start around $2500. You may be able to find Rancho, low end ProComp or something similar for 2k but I doubt you would want that. King, Icon, Toytec etc were all over 2k.

If you live near the border, waiting for a sale from a US retailer and shipping to a receiving depot just across the line then brining it back yourself may be cheaper than buying here in Canada. Often even after exchange rate and duty it works out way cheaper. I saved 35% or more on my wheels this way for example.

Have you considered an Elka 2.0 kit? They're in Boucherville Quebec. Sub 2k CAD, but you'd need to add some shackles in the rear.

I would save the import hassle and use Elka. There are some reviews on here that are quite good. I have looked at them and they will most likely be what I will use when funds allow.

I put Bilstein 5100s all around on mine...the ride is no better or not enough that I say wow.
I've heard good things about the Bilstein 6112s, a pair would be around 1k...should be cheaper to install(then the 5100s)or easier if your doing it by yourself. I'd say shackles with new poly bushings for the rear. I've seen some Pro Form shackles that look beefy, i havnt tried them yet

    There's also fox 2.0 that are around $1250 a pair, $1750 for the.2.5.(Canadian)
I've have no experience with these either, not sure if there any better than the Bilstein 6112s...that are cheaper price wise.
What size tires are you thinking, more sidewall will help soften the ride.

This is who I used for my gear. My buds ordered lots here too. I basically got my spc uca’s free compared to next lowest price.

I came in at $3k shipped for the full 2.5 OME with Dakar’s. Daystar bag cradles. Spc uca’s and baja north put the coil overs together for me before shipping.

Upon further learning I have decided that for many reasons I prefer the 2.0 Elkas. NOW, Is it safe to assume that anything higher than stock configuration would benefit from lowering the differential? Secondly, can I lift the truck using the stock UCA's and see how it alligns etc. and then replace the UCA if it does'nt work for me, or is it reconmmended I do them at the same time. I will be lifting 2-3" so nothing crazy and I figure the stock UCA might cut it.

I have the diff drop on mine and wouldn’t run without it judging by the cv angles. Mind you I’m closer to 4”. You can replace uca later if need be, for the cost might just want to do it once though.

Is there no reason to want to stick with stock UCA other than saving money? Are there any particular brands to look for? Elka doesnt make any.

I really like my SPC ones. Tons of adjustability and an oem style ball joint, making them more durable in the winter (salt) than a hiem joint type uca.

I’m learning so much about this stuff, thanks guys! I just watched a bunch of videos and did some price comparing/feature comparing and I’m looking at the readylift UCAs at the moment. They have the regular ball joint for longevity, and they are significantly less money than the spc. If I were doing a 4+ inch lift I’d maybe need the extra adjustability of the spc but I doubt I’ll need it with just a 2-3” lift. When you guys put coil overs and UCAs on do you do it yourself and align by eyeball then drive to a shop to have them alight it? Or do you just let the shop do the install?

I did mine by eye then drove few miles to the shop.
