They didn't cheapen it. The cooler is actually bigger and is dedicated to the AC. Which probably means to probably added to the cost.

I guess is a supplier got a bad supply of components. Ethanol is probably the issue. Ethanol varies greatly in just how "corrosive" it is.

Do both engine sizes use the same fuel pump?

download the Toyota owners app or go to the Toyota website and enter your vin # to see if yours is one affected.

I actually like the Toyota app so I can look at full service history and recalls are right there on the home screen.

You do not have to wait to know if you affected. Download the app or enter the vin # on Toyota website. Recall is already showing for my truck on the app. All recall information was posted 1/13/2020

Yes. If both engines have 26 gallon tank and are non-flex fuel, then both use 77020-0C082. Flex fuel 5.7L (26 gallon tank) use 77020-0C120.

Different pumps are used for 38 gallon tank: Non-flex fuel 5.7L use 77020-0C160; Flex Fuel 5.7L uses 77020-0C170.

My 19 is not a flex and it is not part of the recall. Build date of 2/19. What is your build date?

So far mine is in the clear, i wonder if having the 38 gal. tank is the factor here?

I’m on Toyota numbers 5 & 6. Never had an unscheduled service visit with any of them except when my battery died on my 11 Tacoma. So I’m not worried bout this.

Now to see if I am going once or twice for this recall :fingerscrossed:.

If I just get " No information found for the VIN entered. Please confirm your VIN." Am I in the clear?

That is a different response than what I received the first time I looked up my VIN, but I did get that response just now. Try it again later after the system settles down. The first time I looked, the site explicitly said no recalls were found.

If this recall is for the fuel pump in the gas tank then it probably means replacing the whole tank assembly. My 2016 had to get a new gas tank because of a leaking tube. I dropped my truck off, got a Corolla loaner (fastest car I've ever driven) and was done the next day.

Maybe some of you 26 gallon guys that qualify for a recall can work a deal to have a 38 gallon tank put in with out labor costs? Or even a discounted tank if they actually replace the whole tank.

With all the TSS issues and now this, besides the occasional valve cover leak, I'd say 2017 may be the lastest best year for the Tundra

Anyone taking bets on how many issues the new gen will have?

    A bunch
Part of me wonders if they've got the 'B' crew working on the current gen upgrades. 'A' crew is on the next gen and that hopefully means better reliability.

And with the 2007+ throttle pedal recall I'm always skeptical at how bad the problems actually are or if they're more user error but Toyota is just covering their butts.

I'll most likely be taking that 2022 bet - it'll be just the right time to get the wife a new vehicle

When I log in to the Toyota Owner's site it says "no safety recalls reported." I tried the recall site and got the "no information found" message. I have a 19 with the 38 gallon tank. Guess we'll see...
