    Hey everyone,
I wanted to drop some info about the 3.0" Series we offer for the 07+ Tundra

    ICON1K_JVSHOOT_37-2.jpg

    OVERVIEW:
While ICON’s 2.5 Series coilovers are an excellent choice for drivers looking for a great all-around performance upgrade, there are a select few Tundra owners seeking to drive their vehicles in a manner and in terrain that beckons for more. The ICON Vehicle Dynamics 2007-UP Toyota Tundra 3.0 Series Coilover Kit was designed to take the off-road capability of the truck to new levels by increasing wheel travel and significantly improving the damping ability of the front shocks.
Compared to the 2.5” diameter coilovers the 3.0 Series shocks see a piston surface area increase of 50% in the ride zone, and 100% in the “Bump Zone”. This translates into increased stability and vehicle control at the extremes of off-road use, with benefits also making themselves apparent in on-road driving conditions. The multi-stage hydraulic Bump Zone featured in these 3.0 Series shocks exponentially increases bottom-out resistance as the shock travels through the last 40% of travel, keeping vehicle dynamics in check during those hard hits or unexpected obstacles.
These 3.0 Series coilovers were designed as an OEM shock replacement, making install a simple and straightforward bolt-on affair. Built in ride height adjustability yields 1.63-3.5” of front lift height allowing for the fitment of larger, more aggressive wheel and tire combinations. First class ICON manufacturing processes and quality components such as Eibach coil springs and FK Rod End bearings are used to ensure these shocks function to their maximum potential without issue.

    KEY FEATURES:
    • Significant increase in damping ability for excellent performance in extreme off-road conditions
    • Increased wheel travel and vehicle specific valving provides comfortable and consistent ride quality on and off-road
    • Adjustable coilovers provide 1.63-3.5” of front lift height
    • Direct bolt-in to OEM shock location makes for an easy install
    • ICON’s multi-stage, tuneable hydraulic “Bump Zone” exponentially increases bottom-out resistance in the last 40% of compression travel
    • Easy-to-adjust CDC Valve (Compression Damping Control) allows for end-user compression changes to suit all types of terrain and vehicle cargo configurations
    • 10” aluminum reservoirs provide generous oil and nitrogen volume for consistent damping with temperature increase
    • High quality ICON-engineered Eibach springs offer increased travel and performance
    • PTFE lined COM12 spherical bearings ensure maximum strength and durability
    • Heavy duty 1” CNC machined shock shafts
    • Multi stage CAD plated shock body with hard anodized piston and top cap
    • Fully serviceable
    • “ICON 1K” tested under rigorous off-road conditions to validate tune, performance, strength, and durability
    • Made in the USA
    CDC VALVE FEATURES:
    • CDC Valve shocks are application specific tuned like all ICON shocks
    • Internally calibrated per application based on motion ratio, shaft diameter, and vehicle weights
    • 10 detented stops and large adjuster knob provide easy-to-feel adjustments
    • Allows the end user to optimize vehicle's ride specific to his/her liking on all types of terrain
    • Clearly engraved knob for direct reading of current setting
    TECH INFO:
    • Sway bar tips must be rounded off for coil cup clearance

    WHEEL & TIRE FITMENT INFO:

    OEM Wheels & Tires: Yes
Aftermarket Wheels: 8-8.5" Wide, 5.75" Backspace
    Aftermarket Tires: 35 x 12.50
(Larger Tires May Fit but Fender Trimming and Modifications will be Required)

Holy Crap those look like they barely clear the upper control arm.

The biggest advantage to the 3.0 Series is the multi-stage hydraulic internal bump control. Our Tundra has been taken to several off road event and has turned heads across the board. Other vehicles that were 'more built' with loads of aftermarket components were surprised how well our Tundra held up, and in most cases surpassed the rest of the field. The 3.0 Series is a big jump in price but worth every penny for the consumer looking to get the best off road performance out of their Tundra.

Dunno how I missed this thread, but I can probably answer most questions about these (except @OcotilloSR5 question about extended and collapsed lengths. I’ll have to measure when I take them off for a rebuild if Adrian doesn’t come back with it).

We’ve been running the 3.0 with an Omega 2.5 bypass for like 8 months maybe? Also have the billet upper which allows us the make alignment adjustments to accommodate the 37x12.5 tires on 0 offset beadlocked Methods.

Thanks man! They've been a blast and have taken a beating. We probably jumped the truck 50 times Saturday night. Just a couple feet, but still a lot of fun.

I did not realize this Tech Note

    upload_2020-1-9_6-42-33.jpg

Apparently the problem I had with my install and the sway bar interference having the installer and Icon discussing the problem on the phone the fix was to rotate the lower spring perch and align the "slot" up with the contact point of the sway bar. This is the first time I seen this from Icon and wish Adrian would have told me when we discussed it at T2S last year. It is what it is, due to health issues I have not been beating this truck like I beat the shit out of my LandCruiser but that will change soon

After going back and forth with the installer (I had just came out of the hospital) and Icon rotating the shock perch being the "fix", I removed the sway bar and it seemed fine for me but the wife was not happy and asked me what happened to the ride. I ended up putting the sway bar back on and found when it full flexes (maximum droop) the lower shock tower rubs the side of the LCA (I do not have a picture of that spot but it can be bent out I would assume).

The Tech Note would not resolve the interference of the front sway bar either because it is the head of the hardware that contacts the lower shock tower

@Icon_Adrian, so does the 3.0 increase travel in stock form or do you have to get the extended travel version like the 2.5 versions there’s a regular one and an “ext” one.

Same thing happened with mine as well. I’ve been running without the sway bar but I’ll have to check on the LCA rubbing. Good to know though

fwiw I had to round off my sway bar tips to avoid hitting my KING 2.5 coilovers. Alignment helped too. Now the trd sport sway bar comes with rounded off tips already.

Has Icon come up with any sort of permanent fix for the sway bar issue? I have the same problem, 3.0 coilover with cups rotated and the sway bar hardware still contacts in certain situations. Very disappointed considering the cost of these. I have driven it with and without the sway bar and prefer the way the truck handles with it on. Has anyone tried a sway bar relocation like the one boss 4x4 makes? I wonder why Icon didn’t include one in the kit.

I’ve got the same issue. Planning on trying some hardware with a smaller head to see if that clears. Maybe a regular hex head bolt instead of the large one the links come with.

    The joys of modifications!

If you look at the geometry there, not a lot of room to work with. The sway bar link that comes with the lift is an attempt at reducing the gap but it simply does not work. The only thing to do is spend a shit load of money on an after market sway bar. I have been looking mainly so I can find one I can set up for a quick disconnect like I had on my LandCruiser but these come at a hefty cost

We ditched our sway bar long before we got the Icon 3.0. I can’t endorse that as a solution for everyone, but we prefer the ride (both off and on road) of no sway bar.

what’s with the weird hex head bolt? That’s not stock is it?

Yeah, we removed our sway bar about a year before we switched to the icons though. We had Toytec BOSS coilovers when we deleted the sway bar.
