Do you know of any forum discounts or sales coming up? I've got a $100 bill with AJT's name on it.

I'd just order the trim ring from AJT. It'll snap on right over the existing one.

Nope. The guy's stuff is in high demand pretty much all the time so if he ever posts a sale, it's due to a holiday. Sucks lol

Has anyone heard how long the wait is on the pre-order items?

Per his site, the trim gates won't ship out until mid March

I agree.. and I may do that some day, but it’s preorder only for now and won’t be ready till March. So I’m gonna see how well this paint holds up till then. I did buy their vent rings and it’s awesome

Just was patient with my drill. Your right it was easier than the silver piece.

Finally got my vinyl in and time to play with it. Gonna do silver dash pieces and steering wheel. Sorry just reread the title. This was not painted.

Nice! It look like it is just glued on the handle, did it just pop off with a pry tool?

Kinda. Wasn't sure how to take it apart. Started prying under with plastic pry tool. It finally released. Six tiny tabs and a blob of silicone or adhesive.

Hey fellas, installed the AJT cupholder trim and shifter trim yesterday, everything is cool. A major question is us Platinum & 1794 guys that have the padded leather trim under the shift trim plate, I found there is nothing for the front (2) bolts to attach to once you remove the plastic welded trim piece. Has anyone else ran into this? I ended up making some "tabs" out of some spare metal trim. I didn't se on AJT's website to specify your trucks trim level.

Pic shows the (2) tabs I made, these are the front bolt areas that without those tabs wouldn't have anything to secure them.

Instead of Plastidip, I used these to paint my chrome and gray pieces black and had excellent results! IMG_20200113_195721.jpg

nice, i didnt think of the minwax protection. I just used the 2x rustoleum plastic Satin Canyon Black and then used the Matte Clear coat 4-5 times to give it a good outer coat.

My black shift knob will be here this week. I plan to get a electric heat shrink tubing to slip over the actual shift rod and get rid of that shine too. Not this necessarly, just getting the $1 packet from ACE hardware.

Thanks. I took the trd shifter off my trade in so I have two of these now. I was thinking about painting one to match the truck. You just convinced me.

You're welcome. I too kept one from my trade in but sold it for $50. Let us know how the paint holds up being on a wear item.

Hey Terry, any take aways on disassembly of the TRD shifter? Besides the glue are there tabs the click back into place? Is the embossed leather piece on the top separate from the stitched leather on the lower part? Thinking about changing the leather out.

I want to do this chrome delete without having to paint, but looks like I’d have to. I was going to go with the ajt, but I’m more into simple lines, don’t really like the “rivet” look of them. I wish ajt offered a direct oem replacement in black

Sorry for such a late response. The leather is separate. There are 6 tabs. When prying, think of it like a phone screen protector. You can peel it off but do it slowly or it might break. It will slowly peel away.

How did you do the bottom of the shifter? Just tape off and paint.

I'm not sure if you were talking to me but if ya was, I wrapped it too. I didn't remove it from the knob itself and since I knew it wouldn't be seen, I put a seam on the front for ease of wrapping.

I'm bringing this back up. I was searching early today about painting and what not around the shifter trim. While looking, I seen a post from someone on here, that had put a American Flag sticker over the shifter gate area and had cut it out around the gates. Now I can't find it for shit.

If anyone knows who did that or can find the post, I'd greatly appreciate it.

This new 3M 2080 Wrap Film is pretty killer.

Tried the paint method first but it started to chip over time.

Filled in the recessed areas of the bezel with acrylic, sanded, then vinyl wrapped it.
This is a fairly simple wrap project & holds up well through the heat of summer and everything being chucked in the drink wells.

This DIY KIT below has the Acrylic & enough 3M 2080 Series Vinyl to do the drink bezel plus the shifter trim.
I just need to edit the tutorial for it.

TUTORIAL on airbag / steering wheel trim panels removal.

    Steering Kit - $12.50

Started on my interior chrome delete yesterday. 4 coats of matte fusion and 4 coats of matte clear. AJT vent covers and shift gate has shipped and will be here this week. F544A77A-D8BD-48E1-8C3C-16BDBCBACCFC.jpg
Next is to remove the radio surround and use the same paint so it matches.
