How long from when you sent your ecu data was your base tune?

Saturday will be 8 weeks for me.

It took Mat a few weeks for me to get my base file, and usually takes a week or two for him to reply to me and that's when he's working 24/7. The guy has been on vacation for a few weeks, so he's probably insanely backlogged, and even working full time he gets backlogged because it's a small operation. I wouldn't worry, just let the man do his thing and he'll get to you.

Thanks for the answers. I don't have much interest in using higher octane fuels due to increased cost, but would like to get back some of the power I lost going to 33s. Hard to believe an inch caused that much of a difference.

I do not have this tune, but have been following this thread since the beginning, and may purchase eventually. To clarify the S Mode downshifting part, I think I read that it will not downshift as it normally did on the stock tune. It will allow you to stay in that high gear until there is a risk of stalling, and then downshift to the next gear, and repeat. So basically allow you to stay in high gear as long as possible, until there is a stalling risk. Where as the stock tune down shifts to what it thinks is optimal, even in S Mode.

You guys probably need to wrap your mind around this being a long process. I bought my tune last June and it sometimes takes weeks in between updates. Really the main thing is to know it's not completed for most ECU's, definitely the majority. Of course the holidays and a broken arm factory in to this, but as an example, I sent off my last set of logs around the end of September and that was my last email sent to Mat. I try not to clog up his process anymore than I have to.

*Correction*- I did have to send an additional email after finding my gear lock wasn't staying locked and it doesn't lock the torque converter at all.

Honestly, I believe what slows his process down for the tundra/Sequoia is the Tacoma tune. I read that his final Tacoma tune is almost complete, so I'm thinking the tundra development will be much faster at that point. At least I hope so. I've put nearly 15000 miles on my truck since this process started and I'm looking forward to a completed tune before my 2013 is considered a classic... to be perfectly honest though, my truck runs great, so much better than stock.

Once 2.0 drops for the Tacoma I’m sure the tundra will get more attention. The 3rd automatic Tacoma is a train wreck

Ok so you have some experience. Anyone can chime in. I have an OV tune on the way. Obviously it's the first base tune. Can you help clarify what exactly I'm getting here? Does it have gear lock out of the box? I read his website and thought I knew what I was getting, but from reading some here I'm not sure.

Or is it that the flash kit I'm getting is to help get the data from my truck to send to him, and then I still wait for my first base tune?

I'm running the BD supercharger tune currently. So do I have to flash back to stock first? I dont have my flash kit yet so I haven't read any instructions, just curious.

I'm pretty sure if you don't flash back to stock with the BD unit, you will lose access to your bullydog tuner permanently. Not good if you plan on selling it.

I believe it would be helpful if he would put the installation instructions (step by step) under each individual product if would be less confusing. I think I'm going to have a shot of this 20200102_214144.jpg

waiting for step one to complete.

No. Also, they send you your baseline (original) back with the Ov base tune. So, I have tune 0 so to speak which I believe is my BD tune. Why I would ever go back though.....OV is much better. Hope this helps. PM me if you like.

Tomorrow through Friday is Tundra folder in our zendesk.
I try to do updates in bulk, it keeps me focused if one day is "just tundra" one is just Lexus, etc.

I don't want to keep this process dragging out, and have an internal deadline for patch updates.

But yes....the 3rd gen tacoma takes a lot of our attention, and the truck is a damn mess right off the lot.

But good news? For tundra is developing on the tundra is so much easier. When we first started (map switch, supercharger tuning, etc) that was when we were off from doing the tacoma. (1.05 released..and the trailing updates from that).
We managed to write a lot of code features on the tundra really quick.

So, once 2.0 is done on the tacoma, it's full swing back to Tundra.
Until then we will continue with our normal custom tuning.

Also boost on the tacoma shouldn't get in the way either.

Currently running OV base tune. I'm not completely sure but I think my gas mileage dropped.
Was getting 10-12 in town prior. Now only 8-10. Is unhooking the battery necessary? Will
    the next iteration help?

I realize there's many other variables , only curious here. Thank you.

All these things and more. What comes to my mind is that when you flash or disconnect the battery, that will reset the Fuel Trims. Initially the ECU dumps a "safe" amount of fuel in, and then based on what it sees from the O2 sensors it will add or "trim" that amount to get to what's been programmed, usually that "magical" stoichiometric ratio. This will take drive time to optimise.

Mine has tanked as well with the "oxygenated" gasoline and little bits of warm up time with the cold temps. 0 MPG during that time will bring down your average very quickly.

My understanding is the base tune is a safe tune...made for you to pull logs and allow OV to get a baseline of the vehicle and optimize and adjust from there.

    - Any outstanding ticket will be getting an update today
    - Several folks already have been updated or emailed.
    - This will be the last update until we finish all code / patch work / options in the rest of the ECUs.
It's our priority to get the code done for all of these ECUs, and expect to have it wrapped up for all of them over the next few weeks.

I will publish a list of all ECU versions that have our exclusive features applied to them at that time.

We are doing this to eliminate the back log, eliminate the waiting time and delays on updates.

You are welcome to continue logging and providing any feedback to our zendesk during this time.

To be clear, here is the complete list of features available as part of our final Tundra patch. (some of the features we previously worked on has been simplified or eliminated)
    1. Map switching with Tow mode
    2. GearLock based on S-Mode
    3. DirectShift in S-mode

It will also be a blog post on our website when we have all ECUs done. That way there is no confusion on if / when your ECU will have it
