    My Wife took her Tundra to the Toyota Dealership to get an oil change.She always uses Mobil 1 synthetic oil.The service writer told her they use Toyota synthetic oil.Also that it cant be bought in Auto parts stores.He however wouldnt give the brand and said that Toyota doesnt sell it.Can anyone shed some light on what brand Toyota actually uses as far as synthetic oil.Thanks

    Just thought I'd post this here. Was at my dealer yesterday at their parts/service counter (seeing what tires were a part of this month's buy 3 get 1 for a $1 - it's only the stock sizes/styles btw). This mat was right on the counter:IMG_4557.jpg hopefully that clears up the "should I use m1 or Toyota synthetic oil?" questions.

    Wonder Why they recommend such a thin oil. I've seen this wt in stores and wondered what used it. Ive always used a 10-40 or

    My guess would be the super tight tolerances of the motor. Need the thin stuff to be able to get everywhere and lubricate properly.

    But that's just me SWAGing it.

    My 2014 Silverado 5.3L or 6.0L used 0-20 "extended mileage" synthetics such as Mobile 1 as well. In extreme cold, they used 0-30. Much discussion about this and two theories were prominent. Tight tolerances and for contribution to higher MPG. Seems to be the trend for newer motors. My 2017 Honda Accord V6 also uses 0-20.

    Well I picked up 2 Jugs of 0-20 M1 at China mart. I noticed 5-20 M1 there too. Anyone run anything thicker in the summer?

    Newer vehicles don't require different viscosity oils for season. just stick with the 0w20 you'll be good

    After a bunch of research I’ve come to the conclusion that it is Mobil1EP or annual protection with a bunch of molybdenum as a friction reducer. Dealer sells it for 7.50 a qt.

    Yeah it's definitely mobil 1 with some type of propriety list that toyota adds in. I've read a lot of people that try to use mobil 1 advanced fuel economy and the engine is rough after that. I just started putting shell rotella gas truck in. It's been fine and the engine doesn't seem any different than the oil that came from the factory.

    Most newer vehicles require 0W-20 oil. In my research it seems that the Tundra sold in other countries requires 5W-20 or 5W30
