    None,,,,,, yet
I'm glad its working out for you. Did you replace the entire seat or just the covering? My son has an 08 with cloth that I love, it's basically the reason I bought the one I have but his is much more comfortable. I'd still like to hear from someone with a Platinum to see if there's a difference as leather is an almost must for clean up reasons. I live out in the sticks so randomly running into people and asking it's much of an option.

I think the shape of the 2nd gen trucks and the sequoiuoioiiois looks more comfortable.

Do the rear head rest of the crew max fit in the same holes of the front seats? I have a double cabe and my rear has bars that are narrower than the front.

2016 crew max fits back to front. Maybe not the middle back, I think it's a little different.

I find the seat cushion is on the hard side, no side support. head rest is in wrong position and gas paddle is too far right.

Literally dealing with this in both of my trucks right now.
Couldn’t find the right spot in my Tacoma after the cab swap. But I haven’t driven it but 30 miles.
My wife borrowed my Tundra for a week so it was all out of whack.
Not excited to drive either of them at the moment because of it.

Yeah I see lots of Big 3 trucks and SUV’s with seat memory. Sucks that it wasn’t something that comes on SR5’s in 2012.

Summary: Add cardboard inside the seats to improve lower back support and make the Tundra 3rd gen crew cab bucket and rear seats comfortable.

I love this truck but I just went on a week trip and my back was killing me. I ended up taking my jacket off and pushing it down to help the whole trip. I asked the other two people with me and they also said they started to feel discomfort after a couple hours. I did as much research as I could, and it seems that there is a good bunch of people who also do not like these seats in the 3rd generation tundra...but then again there is a good bunch who absolutely love them. I'm 6'6" 235 lbs so I'm a big guy and it seems other guys around my size also hate these seats. I deduced after my week car ride that the problem is that the lower back support is very low for all the seats in the tundra crew cab.

The front two bucket seats have a patented plastic back rest behind the cushion that is rigidly connected to the frame at the top and has a torsional (spring) connection at the bottom. Some people say keep adjusting your driver seat and I believe this is true for a smaller sized person. If your seat is in an incorrect position meaning there is a large force at top of the back rest the lower part of the back rest will be pushed away from your back. But if you are a larger person you can either get no lower back support because you don't have the seat in the perfect position or the spring is not strong enough to give you support - or your body is wide enough so that your body never pushes the spring against the metal seat in full compression.

The rear crew cab seats are different. The back of the cushions have a lightweight fabric designed to act as a backing. This backing is directly support by metal rods. After a long time in the back seat I felt pain in a square pattern on my back. To my discovery this was the pattern of the metal rods supporting the cushion. At least the front seats have a patented plastic back plate, but these back seats are just cushion on rods that are barley in a dense enough pattern. For a smaller person who does not compress the cushion that much I'm sure they would never feel any discomfort at least that was what Toyota was thinking.

So, I found a fix and that fix was to add cardboard between the seat cushion and the plastic back rest or the metal rods for the back seat. This has increased the comfort of all the seats by far especially the back seats are on another level of comfort it is crazy good. Adding cardboard is mainly to add lower back support which I think is lacking. I have not tested these seats on a long car ride yet but the day to day around the town riding is sooooooo much better. If you big and/or have back problems and cannot get these seats to feel right add some layers of card board to your seats. I also cut up some yoga mat to pad the cardboard. I'm really excited to do a long road trip in these now especially after suffering after the last one.

    Tundra_Cardboard.jpg Tundra_Cardboard2.jpg Tundra_Cardboard3.jpg

To do this on the crew cab back seats you have to take them out, 8 floor bolts. This mod is brought to you buy the United States Postal Service.

    Thanks,
    Mark

At first I added cut up 4" memory foam to the front of the seat to help. This worked until the memory foam squishes under my weight and goes almost flat. With the cardboard mod above (added back of the seat image above) the driver seat is very comfortable.

    Tundra_MemoryFoam.jpg

The cardboard may degrade over time but it is free and easy to switch out. Anyhow this was just a test and maybe if I every have to replace the cardboard I will find a better material like a lightweight flexible plastic. The cardboard is very stiff at the bottom for the lower back by adding layers and flexible at the middle and top.

The 2013 seats I believe are a bunch of thick cushion with a hard backing? The bucket seats on the 3rd gen tundras cushions are actually not very thick. This new design I believe is similar to Nissan seats where they are trying to promote the natural resting position.

Switching out the seats to maybe platinum or similar only changes the seat cover. All the tundras have the same seat underneath. If you have pain in the seat your in and add more cushion through a better leather or seat cover the pain will only take longer to happen.

    Thanks
    Mark

I'm coming out of a 17 Limited into a 20 1794, yes the seats in the Limited were firm but I wouldn't call them too very uncomfortable. Now the 1794 oh my gosh those things you just sink in and now I'm able to say my Limited seats were hard as a rock lol even though still comfortable.

Has anyone found a fix for the seat position? I have a 2020 limited that I am desperately trying to make work but feel completely unstable in the seat. I am 6’ and 170 and just feel all over the place in the seat on turns. First leather seats, coming from a 2012 4Runner with cloth and felt so much more comfortable. Actually test drove a ranger today thinking I may have to cut bait with the Tundra, but I hate the thought of that. The seat seems too high and no side support which makes it feel like it’s on stilts and completely off balance.

Just coming off a 4 hour drive with the 2020, I found it a lot more comfortable than the 4runner for long distances. Course that was driving in a straight line across the plains, I'll have to pay attention to the side support next time I head up into the mountains. In the meantime maybe you guys should try one of these...

I'm sure the level of comfort from person to person is partly based on size and body shape.

I used to have back problems but they weren't disc related so after 10 years I put some effort into strength work and yoga and pretty much got it all ironed out. I still get an achy upper back on longer drives, which started in a Sonata, then continued in my Tacoma. I tried several things with no luck, and eventually just folded a bath towel and shoved it in the lumbar region. Worked like a charm, and I'm about to do the same thing with the Tundra. I had a Mustang in between the Taco and Tundra, and the racing style seats were fantastic. I never needed any additional padding.

For anyone suffering, skip the cushions and try a towel. I fold it in half, then in half again in the perpendicular direction, then fold it over 2 times. It shapes to the back pretty well, and over time flattens out and is very easy to position.

This post might be a tad older, BUT YES I get saddle sore, starting about an hour after I start out. My legs starting to hurt after 3. I have a 2018, my brother in-law has a 2010, seats are different and more comfortable somehow.

Can confirm awful seats. I have a 2011 SR5 with leather and I am 6’1” 145lbs. No side support for me whatsoever, not enough thigh support, and the seat doesn’t go low enough for my liking. It’s a good thing I have to hold the steering wheel while turning, otherwise I’d probably fall out of the seat  I might try that cardboard trick for the lack of lower back support. So far, turning the headrest around backwards has been helpful in delaying the onset of soreness while driving but it’s a wee bit too far backwards now. I wish it was adjustable

This might help some of you out there..... do not position the seat as a bucket seat, that's causing most of your back problems.
Position the seat so the rear section is higher than the front section.

I personally count for adjustment, for example:
I position the seat at the very bottom for both rear & front section.
I count 5 sec. goin up for rear section and count up 2-3 sec. for front section.
Exact time really doesn't matter so long as the position of the seat is slanting forward/down towards the front.

I'm 6'3.....once i made this adjustment, lower back issues went away completely.
Previously i used to create a bucket seat position which was causing discomfort after hour or so of driving.

    Hope this helps,

I like the bench-like firmness of the seats. I have driven long distances and do daily commuting. I find the seats to be supple enough to settle in to without being cramped or squishy. I drove my wife’s new Tahoe (priced about $28k more than the Tundra) to Indio, CA and back and my thighs and low back were screaming at me, even with something like a dozen adjustments possible.

I think some of the issues maybe anthropometric; related to body structure, and some may be postural.

I drove a 2007 Camry for 11 years and I blame it for several years of chronic IT band tightness. The lower seat was comfy, but so short that my thighs hung forward about 10 inches, and with a long commute, my legs sagged outward. This went on for a decade before I figured out to rotate my legs inward to correct.
At least the Tundra supports my entire upper leg, doesn’t crowd my shoulders, and allows several sitting positions that I don’t have to consciously correct for.
