Deer got me this morning. Just dropped my daughter off at my parent's house and heading to work. Saw a deer about 50 yards ahead of me tail up high tailing it across the road. Was just hitting the brakes expecting another deer or two to be following it and out of the corner of my eye I see one right beside me. Damn thing ran right into the side of my truck. Hit my driver door and the rear door and it looks like it may have pushed the front of the bed in as well. rear door was creased and cracked the paint so I'm assuming they will reskin that door at least. Bed and front door maybe able to be fixed without replacing, haven't had a chance to look at it closely yet. Makes me happy that we just switched insurance companies and spent the extra $5 a month to have a $0 comprehensive deductible. Sad thing is, the deer that hit me is bigger than the deer I shot a couple months back. Guess this will be a good time to have them fix the paint where my kayak fell on the hood a couple years ago too. [IMG] [IMG]

Glad it hit me instead of me hitting it. Probably would've done a lot more damage and blown the air bags.

You lucked out, no damage to you and damage to Tundra could've been worse.

At least it wasn't an elk or a moose or a cow. There's winter grazing all through the west desert around here and I've almost hit and been hit by cows and antelope. I think I'd rather be hit by a cow than hit a cow and I haven't decided about the antelope yet... They run awfully fast and have those little jousting rods on their head.
Deer happen, glad to see you made it out alright. Trucks can almost always be fixed.

I had one cross the street then double back and hit me on the side.

I am out there like an idiot yelling at the deer "YOU MADE IT, YOU WERE THERE AND SAFE!"

It just left not giving a shit about the damage and I am sure he got home to his family and blamed me for it.

I was in a Saturn Ion at the time so just had to buy new panels and put them on

Glad everyone was safe. I see youtube videos of deer in the front seat

Gotta run the deer gauntlet between Austin and Johnson City and yeah deer next to squirrels are the dumbest when it comes to crossing roads.

Once during the rut, I saw a large, mature buck in north austin while traveling on a 4 lane highway (burnet/wells branch) when I saw the buck running at full speed in a 45 degree angle relative to the road. I then saw it continue at full gallop and Make it between 2 18 wheelers (everyone was going at least 55+) on the first lane of a really crowded road, then make it past the 2nd lane between cars again, then the 3rd and son of a gun he made the 4th too and kept right on going full speed, you know it, towards a Hot Doe!

What they'll do for tail yet again they're not the only animal like that!

Luck and enjoy those Toyotas. : ^ )))

Man! You got T-boned by a friggin' deer? Crazy. I have seen photos/videos of people running into deer, but not a deer running into the side of your vehicle.

I picked my 2 year old up from my parents and was showing them the damage to the truck. Put my daughter in her car seat and she asked me "I come back to Grandma's tomorrow?" I saw no where are you going tomorrow (meaning the the baby sitter) In a pissed off voice she said, "I'm going deer huntin!"

Have a good PDR ( paintless dent removal) tech look at it first. They can fix alot and if it needs to be painted after cause paints broke ,its better than skinning it or getting crappy after market parts

Not for nothing, but deer really respond to sound so if you have the second to do so hit the horn.

And sorry about your truck, I hit one in my '07 years ago.

Got the estimate yesterday. $4,000 to fix. The are reskinning both doors. The metal is creased on both of the doors. He said they could fix the front door, but it would be full of body filler and he didn't want to do that on a nice truck. The dent is worse than is showing up in the picture. The bed they are going to fix with paintless dent removal if possible which he thought they could do.

Nothing will make you appreciate the quality of our trucks as much as driving a rental car. Took my truck into the shop yesterday and got a Chevy Malibu as a rental. First of all I hate sitting that low, and trying to put my daughter in her car seat is a bitch. Car rides rough, lots of road noise, and it's just not the same as my truck. Tiny mirrors, no auto dimming mirrors, tomorrow I might really miss my 4wd as it's supposed to snow. A week and a half and I'll have my truck back.

I had a rental once and it was a chevy truck

    Even the blinkers sounded cheap

It wasn't a top of the line one and i hated it.
Picked up my girl and she asked why I was driving an old man truck

    It was a long week

Demand a 4x4 or truck to rental car co and insurance company. You should be given a likewise vehicle. I went through the same process and would not accept the hyundai car then I got a Nissan frontier. it wasn't the best but atleast I could still hunt & access my spots.

If it has spots on it, I don't GAF...Bambi's gettin' some 30.06. Nice tender venison, and it won't be able to grow up to be a scourge to automobiles. I've hit three in my lifetime, and two of them had the nerve to get back up and keep truckin'. Assholes.

My insurance has a $25 a day rental allowance. If I wanted an SUV or a Truck it would've cost me an additional $16 a day. I'm looking at 10 days of rental so it would've cost me $160 out of pocket to get a truck. I decided to use that money to have them fix some scratches and paint chips while it was in the shop instead. If I really need a truck, I can go over and borrow my dad's 2000 Tundra. Hunting season is over for me so it's not a big deal. Just a little inconvenience.
