Hi All, since winter is coming (or here) in the Mid-Atlantic, what do you all use for ice scrapers for your windows? I know there are a ton of options but many I've used over the years that extend for larger cars are not very stable and don't last very long.

    TIA

I got a "Snow Joe" from Amazon, does the job, saves the paint, long enough to not have to lean on the fenders. I paid $10, but usually they are $20

I use cheap plastic ones from WM or wherever. For front windshield I use something similar to this on my civic.

Me too. I'm amazed at how many people fill their garage with boxes of junk and then park outside. Nearly everyone in my hood does this and we our garages are huge so it's not like the cars won't fit.

I mean, once we buy a boat either my truck or The Woman's car will be outside. We only park in the garage in winter. We do keep the garage open though. Being able to pull in and work on vehicles or other projects is a must. Like you, I don't get people who turn a garage into storage for all their junk.

Have one of them extendable foam brum. I bought it at the dealership in like 2013 or something. It’s before the snow-joe foam ones came which I bought for my wife’s atlas. Don’t like the brush style because of scratching the paint. I never had a problem with the foam style. If it’s 2 or more inches I lightly pull the snow off towards me making like 6 swipes on each side and done. I also leave the wipers up if calling for snow. Other than that start your tundy and let it defrost. It only takes an extra 8-10 mins until it starts melting on windows, I never use a scraper. Also make sure wipers are in good condition. I also wax/sealant my windows a lot for water beading and when driving I really don’t need to use my wipers to see.

    I use a frost guard so I don’t have to scrapeFC342FEF-871F-4F0E-813A-D2D5E89DEBF3.jpg

But when I forget to put it on the day before, or when we get a lot of snow I use one I got at Costco like 5 years ago. It extends and has a curve so it doesn’t wobble or collapse at its full length. It works great to reach across the windshield.

Thanks! Checked it out and ordered for $16.99.

One day yes, but now we are dealing with sending the kids out to clean off the cars. In one sense it's good but I'm not too sure they are as careful as me around the new truck.

I actually have that one from about 3 years ago. Let my wife use it on the Sienna since she can't reach otherwise. Haven't found this one again.

Thanks All for the replies! I think I might try covering the windshield too if it is feasible.

I have a remote starter. The money that I spend in gas using it is well worth it to me to not have to scrape windows.

Out here, you can be ticketed for not removing most of the snow from your vehicle before driving. Run it all day, sure, your windows may be clear, but you still need to remove the snow from your roof, hood, and whatnot. That is when the "Snow Joe" kicks ass! It is a big foam rectangle on a long collapsible stick, so you can be fairly aggressive without damaging any paint or trim, as the bristle brushes on the more traditional ice scraper tends to do, and you have enough reach to not have to lean on delicate fenders when clearing snow. Just push that shit off! Even if you remote start your beast, you still need a "Snow Joe"!

The large middle one with cheap legal weed and giant mountains! There is so much snow here, and so much traffic, it really is good law. Nobody wants to be going 70 mph up the highway then suddenly have some joker doing 45 in a 70 zone with 2 feet of snow blowing off their roof into your windscreen stuck in front of you because they were lazy.

    Ahhhh. Okay, that makes sense.

Honestly though, I didn't really register anything else after the words cheap legal weed.:monocle:

I was only speaking of removing frost in my post.
As for snow, I am a firm believer in removing all it from a vehicle before driving it and I don't drive vehicles with snow on them. I hate removing snow so I try to make sure that I either cover my truck or spend a few minutes to rearrange my garage to fit it in before it snows. If I forget to do this, I wrap a micro-fiber towel around a push broom and use it to push the snow off.
In PA, I don't know if you can be ticketed for not removing snow from your vehicles. I do know that you can be sued if snow flying off of your vehicle while driving causes an accident.

Would be nice but then I would not need a 4x4 tundy. I’m not really into the muddying thing. I would then be spending more time cleaning under the truck then the truck itself. Lol but would be nice with no snow.

I scratched my windshield with a scraper. Be careful. I now use ice melt in a spray can. Works great.
