Just another quick tip is the Toy YZZZD-3 oil filters are usually around $4-5 a filter if you buy in bulk online. They are recco’d filter in our engines. Usually they can be bought in 5 packs for under $25.

 

I scored a 10 pack of those on Amazon for like $40 a while back, use them on my '02 4Runner too, great filters.

Yes, 285/75/16. I might try to get a 305/70/16 on there soon. Same height just a bit wider. This guy made it work with some trimming. Love the stance.

 

What tool do you use to get an accurate caster measurement?I adjusted my caster forward today to reduce the rubbing but Id like to know where Im at exactly. I simply measured from the fender edge to the tire to get a ballpark.

 

I kinda like the look of 16" wheels over 17". I love the F5's but I also have been looking at the fn five stars.

Also, alignment on tundra proved driver side has an issue. 2.2 degrees of camber now that it’s lifted. Can’t get it even close to 0

 

So does anyone have any bright ideas for a plate holder or location, I wanted to make a bracket that wrapped around the bottom of the tailgate, but once it’s opened up/layed down, there isn’t enough clearance for the lights or for the plate.
I was thinking of being “overlandiculous” and make a cute lil swing out..... just for my plate haha! any ideas or input would be great, I don’t want to mount it over the hitch hole, so it wouldn’t scrape off on a rock, but maybe that’s my only option other than the swing out?

 

The sweet spot is 285/75/r16 on our trucks. Big, but fits and doesn’t mess anything up she says.

 

Went to the quarter wash to clean all the mountain salt off. I don't know about the rest of the country, but there are very few quarter washes left here in Knoxville. Most are the automatic car washes that use harsh soaps and leave swirl marks on your paint.

For better sliding window action, spray some PB Blast’r with Silicone/Teflon on your window track rail frames. If you remove your door panels (as pictured) then you’ll see two plastic roller wheels per door track that glide on a metal rail. Did this last month and the action is very nice. Motor sounds quicker due to less resistance?

You could do this without removing door panels by slipping the spray straw between glass and rubber window glide/strip on interior side of cabin.

I used a gauge similar to this and double checked my measurements with a digital gauge off the upper ball joint slug. As far as I can tell the upper ball joint area of the knuckle is perpendicular to the line between the upper and lower ball joint pivots.

That's probably so. It's hard to adjust the lower to fit tires and also have decent caster/camber from what I've gathered. I actually forgot the tundras used the lower arms to adjust that.

 

Turn the tire one way and then exactly the same amount the other way and subtract the two readings. If actually seemed to be pretty close when I double checked it on the upper ball joint slug. Too bad our trucks don't have a nice flat surface on the knuckle to stick a gauge and adjust it all with a tire on. The closest I found was the slug that replaces the ball joint when you do uniball uppers.

 

I had a set of 17" Methods prior to the 16" and I really like having a little more rubber on there now that Ive changed them. The 3.50 backspace option on the F5 is nice as well. No more wheel spacers.

 

Ya, 16s seem nice actually. There is no real disadvantage to running a smaller rim size and bigger tire size right?
