So worked on de badge this am. Driver side went super smooth. Used power pro to take off emblem then scraped glue off with hairdryer and finger combo used carpro tarx then goof off then carpro eraser then finalized with elixer driver side turned out perfect. Then moved to the passenger side same exact process but I can still see where the emblem was. Any suggestions on how to go about the process to get the results I’m looking for. Will post pics in a min

I used 3m adhesive remover. Worked awesome and is safe for all surfaces. Got it from Napa. A little pricey but worth it

It was a little odd the passenger side had water behind it didn’t know if that effected the paint at all.

On the similar subject, had anyone found the blackout for the Platinum?

As far as I know, it doesn't exist. I plastidipped mine. Came out pretty good.

I’d try buffing it hoss, unless u were going to try the 3M adhesive remover first.

FYI magic eraser is the sh*t for this project and make sure you use blue painters tape to mark your lines if you are putting on new emblems

Probably wouldn’t use a magic eraser on this.

it’s essentially 5k grit sandpaper when wet

Well it worked well for me but I get it. I didn’t use much pressure it just got rid of the glue lines very easily.

I used bug & tar remover to remove the residual when my 4x4 emblem came loose. Washed afterwards and I could not tell where emblem was.

I had mine painted black at the Auto Body shop. But then I decided I like the look of it without my platinum badges better. So I never put them back on.

I took mine off with a heat gun and some fishing line, then used the 3M stripe off wheel which works pretty well as long as the residue isnt too thick. As for that discoloration you have I also have a similar discoloring on mine, tried compounding and its still there but you can only see it under certain light, my guess is that it must have been caused by the adhesive since there us definitely no adhesive left there. Once it gets nicer out I'm going to polishing the whole truck with a new Dewault buffer I got, maybe that will take care of it.

It has a year of sunlight everywhere but where the badges where. To get rid of the ghost appearance it needs buffed out.

On on old 4runner i had, i had to do the whole truck to get it all even and get rid of the ghost decals.
