    Hello, Everyone.

Quick question: If you are out of the 36,000 mile warranty and a TSB comes out (important or not), will Toyota do the TSB for free or do you have to pay to have it done?

Generally TSBs will have to be paid for if you're not in the 3yr/36k. Depends on your relationship with the dealer too

My concern in that I have the flex fuel 5.7 and in December a TSB came out that involves among other things, replacing the fuel pump:
    T-SB-0166-19

I have never ran E85 and I am at a little over 23,000 miles with no issues. Wondering if I should have it done or not worry about it. Sounds like I might need to do it anyway so that I don't have out of pocket expense later if issues arise related to it that require I have the TSB performed.

My opinion: I would take it in and have the TSB done now regardless of fuel used. If they issue a TSB, they definitely have a good reason for making the change. The fact that they advised you of the TSB indicates that they think it's important.

You could give it 12k more miles to see if anything happens. Then talk to the dealer about doing it. Some might not do it unless you are having a problem related to the TSB.

Didn't lear about it from the dealer...saw on Internet. Thanks, though. I may take it in before the warranty expires when I have a day off.

If it was a recall, the dealer will definitely fix it free, even out of warranty. I've passed on some lame recalls when there was clearly no safety issue, danger, or financial risk. If Toyota didn't inform you of the TSB, they may be reluctant to implement the fix until you are actually experiencing some problem with it; e.g. this current thread:

I've looked and come up empty handed.

Where can details of T-SB-0166-19 be found??

The only way I've found to actually find out about TSBs is to sign up for TechInfo but even then it's hard to tell since it shows TSBs for random vehicles and only shows campaigns and recalls for Vin search's. There's no way to know if there are TSBs unless you know someone working in Toyota service which is why I question the validity of anyone talking about TSBs since there is no reliable source anywhere on the internet for them. TSBs are not a recall either so the dealership isn't going to replace something unless you are having an issue to begin with. To the OP you may want to see if your truck is part of the recall for the fuel pumps though since that did come out recently although there is no fix for those affected yet as far as I know. https://www.tundras.com/threads/toyota-recalls-nearly-700k-vehicles-to-fix-faulty-fuel-pumps.60193/

    I have a 2017 Limited Cremax.
I had the rough cold start issue at the end of 2018. I took it in Dec 2018. Service Mgr said they "adjusted the fuel sensor." That worked........ Until just a couple months ago. The exact same cold rough start issue resurfaced in December. So I called the dealership. This time the service Mgr told me that are telling all Tundra owners to run 91 octane to prevent to cold rough start issue/s. (91 is premium in Colorado)
I pointed out that 91 was a waste for a stock 5.7 Tundra, because it's not a high compression/performance engine. But, instead of argue further, I humored him and told him I would try it. Fast forward 2 weeks...... Filled up with 91...
    . Cold start got worse!!!!
Called the service manager directly and told him the cold starts every morning were worse. At first he said he wanted my Tundra for 3-4 days. So I told him I would need a loaner, since my Tundra is my daily driver. He said they "don't do loaners for that type of service repair." I told him it was the exact same issue as 1yr-ish ago. I also asked about TSB 0166-19. He said that he was unaware of that TSB.
So...finally he asked if I could at least drop it off overnight. I said that could be worked out..... As long as I got it back the next day. That was almost 4 weeks ago. At that time, the earliest appt was/is this Friday. So, I am dropping it off tomorrow afternoon.
I will be pushing for them to replace the fuel pump/seal, and flash the ECM, as mentioned in TSB 0166-19.
My 3yr/36k mile warranty is up on the 23rd. So, I'll see what happens on Friday. ‍♂️
Although, I did hear fuel pumps are back ordered now, thanks to the recall that was issued last month.

I would do the TSB. I did it on my Camry before the deadline and they only replaced my torque converter outside of warranty because I took it in for the TSB.

You can find TSB at NHTSA's Search Portal. You can search by model. Being a gov website it is not intuitive and you have to sleuth but I found a TSB and got my convertibles top fixed. It has them all not just safety.

My 14 Tundra started having a fuel delivery problem over the last 3-4 months. On start up, it would "chug" for about 2-3 seconds and then run fine afterward. No reduction in power. Got bad the last week. It took 5-10 of hard cranking to even start. Drove it straight to the dealer. Took it in, and here there is a Service Bulletin for a fuel pump. Fully covered under the SB ($2500). The problem is its a 4-6 week delay to get one. So my Tundra is sitting in the dealers lot....So are they "Allocating" fuel pumps to go to production lines for new trucks, and the people owning Tundra's needing a fuel pump SOL?It is TSB number T-SB-0166-19.

I have the extended factory (8 year / 100k) but Toyota said it will be fully covered without a warranty. I only have 62k on the truck. If this happened in the camping season and I didn't have "use" of my Tundra for pulling my RV, I would not be a happy camper...

When I had leaf spring TSB done on my Tacoma I had to make a statement that the rear sagged with a load. Same with the tranny reflash
