New Shoes for the PRO

I really wanna upgrade my tires cuz I'm tired of the "I skipped leg day" look on my 2020. I'm stuck between going the safe route and getting 285/70/R18 with no mods, and 295/70/R18 and removing front mud flaps. I'm going for either Nitto Ridge Grapplers like many other people or Yokohama Geolander M/T. Any suggestions?

 

Mine came with Ridge Grapplers, I have no complaints. At 13000 miles they’re wearing evenly and have plenty of tread still.

 

I vote Ridge Grapplers and in the 285/70s....there is such a minor difference in size of the 295s but a huge difference in weight at 10lbs lighter a tire! Now you can just put them on and do absolutely no modifications or run a wheel spacer for a more aggressive stance....if you get the Coachbuilder bumper shims I would bet that will eliminate any rubbing and if you really wanted to keep the little front flap (the one in front of the tire) you could

As far as a M/T...do you "need a M/T?" they wear faster, road noise....just depends on what you want to do with the truck....but if you "need" a M/T i would say go with the Toyos over the Yokohamas

 

10Lbs would help with gas a little bit that's for sure. As far as the front mud flaps they prolly gonna just go. Thanks for your input!

I have been contemplating this as well. Leaning towards 285/70/18 in bfg km3 or nitto rodge grapllers. Stocks dont look great, but they are performing better than i thought they would. Been off road a lot in them. Performed well in snow and ice. Didnt do great in mudd but they didnt get me stuck either.

 

Just ordered my Bora 1.25" wheel spacers and Bumper shim kit from Coachbuilder

 

Im here at work trying to look busy looking at the Bora 1.25 spacers LMAO! no shim kit tho hahahha! Great minds think alike!

 

If you run the spacers you will want the bumper shim kit, even if you go with 285s, talked to a guy on here and he had “slight” rubbing because of the Boras on 285 Ridge Grapplers....I just ordered them to save myself from any trimming and Yes I am at work too

Anyone re-gear for 295’s?

 

I’m running falken 285 75 which is taller then both your choices, they list it on the sidewall as 35 1150 on 18. They have been nothing but great in snow pack. They were also only 950 from discount after rebate and price match from Amazon, on Black Friday. I do have a lift and aftermarket bumper. I do not know if you would clear this size due height without clearancing, no re gear also

 

My 295 Falkens cleared no problem, no lift....just like every other post says. Just remove the silly little mud flap!
I did install the Coachbuilder lift afterwards....looks even better!!!

 

Did you try the Boras before the coachbuilder full pro kit?

 

I did not. I ordered the spacers with the lift.

 

Got ridge grappler on mine and ran them on my Jeep before. Great tire

Thanks for the quick reply, figured all went on at the same time, just trying to find real deal experience of someone that has 295s, boras and stock Pro suspension to see if maybe the coachbuilder bumper shims and removing the small front flap would mitigate any rubbing

 

You will have minor rubbing at full lock with that set up.

 

Minor as in can be rectified with a heat gun to the fender liner? Or will there always be rubbing at full lock?

 

Minor as in, it depends on the articulation of the truck at full lock. It's ok on flat at full lock. But when I was off the road and wheeling I often had rubbing on the body/cab mount. You could do a body/cab mount chop but not with a heat gun

I figured if I was going to have rubbing I would just lift it a bit and go 35s.

295/70/18 wildpeaks, CB +2 rear shackles, and CB front bumper spacer kit, 1.25” spidertraxx spacers.Removed forward front mud flap. Heated and pushed mud flap out of the way, no more rubbing.

I’m probably thinking the same thing as you...I know the 285s look good and there isn’t a huge difference in size of the 295s but they fill the wheel wells soooo much better

 

Falken need to release the Wildpeaks 285/70/18 already...
