I have no issues eating vegetables only (for a short period of time). There are some great meals made with nothing but veggies. But I do need some meat at a certain point.

If my wife wants to cook nothing but vegetarian meals mon-fri I’m all for it, but come Saturday and Sunday daddy takes over LOL

If you have NetFlix...and no chill.

I personally think this video is a better representation of a plant based protein diet, without saying all meat is bad...because it's not.

I’ll give it a watch, thanks!

there are a couple of documentaries on Netflix about vegetarian/vegans - I believe they are complete bullshit and nothing but propaganda. No scientific evidence behind their statements.

to be clear: we’re doing this just for shits and giggles. I grew up on meat and potatoes. Love my steak bloody. If I feel different - great, if not, back to meat.

Eta: oops already watched this one. This is why we decided to do vegetarian for one month

I went 90 days without meat but still consumed 2500-3000 calories of veggies a day. Very little fruit.
The reason I did it was I felt like crap, suffered from rheumatoid arthritis, and was diagnosed with dermatomyositis. I was injecting Methotrexate and taking Naproxen which didn't help and the Methotrexate made me ill. Had ankle replacement surgery, shoulders and other muscles were wasting away, hands were in constant pain. I needed help.
Went to a doctor who specialized in lifestyle analysis and she suggested I start eliminating certain foods. It took a long time to find out I was allergic to wheat as I was using wheat grass juice powder as a supplement even though I cut out all other wheat products. Once I dropped wheat, I immediately began to recover.
If I eat anything wheat I feel fatigued within hours, too much and I can hardly get out of bed in the morning.

We've grown up fortunate with having protein. I spent time in China and they crave it to the point they will cook about anything that wiggles around. They will eat the fat on meat that you'd throw to the dog and think it's better than the lean. If you want true vegan then the Jane sect in India is pretty much what it's about. No root veggies like potatoes, yams or carrots because you kill the plant etc. I spent a week or so in the area of Ghandi and didn't starve, but I was always needing to take a number 2 and it looked like I'd eaten a Kale shake

Vegetarianism is easy with eggs and cheese and bread

Most of us probably grew up on meat and potatoes.

Personally, I think there can be a healthy balance. Instead of having the 16oz steak, maybe the 6-8oz steak and have some more steamed vegetables.

The way I think of it is my diet consists of stuff like beer and food like bacon and hamburgers. Beer is water and plants like hops and grains. The bacon and hamburger come from animals that only eat plants, thus technically it's plant based. So, again technically, I eat a vegan diet.

Not a vegan but I have reduced protein intake needs, meaning I really should only eat meat once a day and even then limit it to about 6 ounces. So I can kinda relate.....you get used to it and learn to love rice, pasta, carbohydrates out the kazoo. The "anti-Keto" diet, haha...

As others have pointed out. The reason people feel so great after trying vegetarian diets is coming only from the removal of junk food. Nothing else. However for a 30 day cleanse its not harmful, just not healthy long term.

Biology is very very clear. Human’s thrive on meat. The proteins in meat and eggs are vastly more bio-available to the body than plant protein.

The enemy of the human body is wheat and grains. Corn, rice, oats, and wheat are what causes most health issues.

Maybe you guys trying this alternate lifestyle can help me with something I've often wondered.

You know (or maybe remember) how when grilling up a thick juicy steak, your mouth start to water in anticipation? Is that how vegetarians feel when they mow the grass?

While this is true carnivores and omnivores developed bigger brains due to a near keto diet and having to develop hunting skills. Fat is good brain food but, remember cattle go through feed lots where they are fed grain to fatten them up before sale. I found out that too much beef and my wheat allergy inflammation issues show up.

If you want to know what wheat juice powder tastes like without actually buying it, just reach up under your mower and grab some of that wet grass. Exactly the same.

    Yes, but...

Can’t remember exactly but they did one test a day apart and one test a week apart? No control group, no true study done.
Obviously I don’t deny a plant based diet is healthy, but I think that whole documentary was one sided.
Just like them interviewing vegan/vegetarian athletes and completely ignoring all of the gold medal winning meat eating athletes. Michael Phelps for example says he ate the shit out of McDonald’s lol

Oh yeah it was completely lopsided, but there were some decent takeaways once you saw past the agenda they were pushing.
It's one of those types of sources best taken with a grain of salt for sure.

Good luck on your challenge, i personally wouldn't make it a day because my Irish/Scot blood demands meat, potatoes, and Ale on a fairly regular basis. Its a blessing and a curse, but mostly a blessing. :)

My wife was a pescatarian, and was willing to provide me with other meats. She has compromised, and we now eat high quality humanely raised meats. It cuts down our meat consumption and increases the quality of the cuts we buy. When you eat an animal you should appreciate it.

yeah I had to recant my original post. This was the doc we watched at work that made us start the vegetarian diet for a month. My cholesterol has been a point high for years so I’m going to do blood tests after this and see if there’s any difference

    Lost track after #1.
There are going to be anomalies everywhere that buck any study someone brings up. I can speak to the numbers tho after 30 days of going vegan, no sugar except occasionally some honey in shakes, and working out 20-60m 6-days a week. Everything, for the first time in my life (triglycerides, good/bad cholesterol, organ function, heart rate, O2 levels, etc), were all in the healthy category. Literally all of them. My doc was honestly pretty stunned at how good they were. The only thing that I wasn't able to get rid of was my BP medication. It's just naturally high. But it was a bit lower than usual.
