List of things to be done: Rims, and level kit - $1750 cash $1930 credit Powder coating - $200 bumper caps Window tint - $220 Subs and tweeters - $210 Paint grille color match - $450 Katzkin Leather seats - $1400 Total - $4230
Ok so I’ve already decided that I am going with a 2.5” spacer level kit. I know that many of you will say “you shouldn’t do that!” Or “you should go with some Bilstein 5160s!” Or something along those lines. Well that’s not what I’m hear for. What I would like to know is after I put the lift in I’m wanting to get some new shocks to replace the stocks without spending an arm and a leg. My truck is a pavement princess so I won’t be doing any hardcore off-roading. Maybe the occasional mudding but nothing fast or hardcore. Just wanna give myself a somewhat smoother ride. Any suggestions?

Find some low mile OEM TRD shocks. They can be had on this here lil' Tundra board for $300, or so, for all four corners. Just got to be patient. Have you checked the For Sale subforum???

No I haven’t checked. But thanks for the advice. I’ll look into it.

    Ignore me if you’d like.

Anything OEM will cost an “arm and a leg” unless you found some new take offs locally.

Purchase some Bilstein “5100” shocks. They are about $100 a pop and will give you a lift that won’t ride like a tank. Purchase one CB shim for the drivers side and call it a day

Any shock you buy will be about $100 plus the cost of a coil spacer. You last statement of “want a smoother ride” will not happen with any oem length shock. You will bottom out and buck on the smallest of bumps.

Again, ignore me if you’d like. Just trying to help out.

The question is, do you need new shocks on the front? OEM will be fine unless you have a ride issue but I didn't see much ride difference between OEM and the 6112s under daily driving circumstances. If you add 1" to rear, the Bilstein 5100s are cheap and add the 1" travel capability.
BTW, do the 5100s up front as they will give you the lift you want, no spacers needed.

I put TRD takeoffs under puck spacers. Even if you don't plan on offroading you'll want to upgrade the bump stops. The risk of the spacers is the struts compressing too much, so one good pothole could cause damage. I went with Wheeler's Super bumps-

    Alot of them
Also going with what @WestexSBK said, get some Bilsteins. You will not get a smoother ride by replacing the shocks and having the spacer leveling kit.

As others said 5100. no spacer needed up front with those. And you're contradicting yourself with the wishes for a smooth ride and spacers.

Also - guess what all these pictures have in common aside from a broken shock shaft...

    No bump stop extenders.

I have a really smooth ride with spacers. How many trucks have you owned with spacers?
