Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and was spoiled by Santa for being good, or that being naughty was worth the lump of coal!

Happy New Year as well. May all your livers forgive you!

 

Well crap.

Diet food may not be the best thing ever, but I was kinda looking forward to my microwave eggwhite, turkey, ham, and cheese omelet. Right up until I pulled it from the microwave and it slid right out of the package, hit the lip of the plate, and leapt to a messy end all over the floor at work.

I was trying to be less cynical for the new year; be a bit more optimistic... Not at all my usual state of mind, and I think the universe is telling me not to get my hopes up!

Morning, Jim. Hope your New Year is starting off on the right foot.

 

Indeed. Not the way I wanted to start the first meal of the decade.

Silver lining, it's just that many fewer calories for the day.

 

But then you’re hungry and will eat extra at lunch.

 

Nope. I bring my food with me, so I only have what I have. I'll just drink extra water.

 

Then I would have snacks that would be gone lol

I cooked a steak yesterday and needed A1!

 

Snacks are part of the meal plan. I could do an extra shake if I feel the need. Not sure I will. Might do a salad later in the evening. We'll see. For now, just gonna try to take the extra deficit.

Did the steak NEED A1, or would you have just preferred it. I've had some steaks where A1 was the only way to make it edible is why I ask.

 

Well, the problem with the steak was it was bland and could’ve used more flavor. Tasted of meat and cooked medium so it was juicy..just bland.

 

Sea salt and be generous, the salt brings out the flavor of the meat, and helps with developing a good crust, essential to a great steak, and of course use a prime cut, spend the little extra.

 

Ah, I see. I generally go for medium rare to keep more of the natural flavor, but sometimes a well seasoned steak hits the spot. I think I prefer BBQ sauce to A1 though. IDK. Been ages since I've had A1.

 

I used a good rib eye. I was able to get a real good crust and didn’t use too much salt thinking it would draw out too much juices and make it dry.

 

Yeah I’m lacking in the steak department, don’t cook it often enough to have a routine to it.
Desserts on the other hand, have mastered a few things to knock it outa the park!

 

I can't cook. Terrible at it, but for steak it doesn't take much to make me happy. As long as it's tender and warm all the way through I am pretty much set. I don't mind the blood. Adds flavor. (insert awful innuendo joke here)

I prefer the thin tender cuts, like a nice slice of prime rib. That’s good eatin!
