Has anyone got the opti coat pro done to their trucks? I'm in Arizona and the cheapest one I can find is for $500 with a 2-3 year warranty and then I'd have to get it done after 3 years again. It seems like it's worth it to not have to wax again for 3 years. That said, the prices go from $500 for 2-3 years protection to 7 years for $900 and then 10 years for 1,200. Obviously I'm not paying $1,200 but definitely considering the $500 2-3 year protection.

I'd rather wax every few months with spray on wax in between applications.

Call it old fashioned, but I like working on the tundy!

I agree - however living in Phoenix az it's 110 degrees like 8 months out of the year and I don't have anywhere to wax the truck under. Won't fit in garage. I can't even clean the windows fast enough before the window cleaner dries

Ooh, in that case, I'd get that stuff on ASAP!
Figured you'd at least have a garage in that AZ heat! Maybe a big ass sand dune at the right time of day LOL

I didn't get that detailed - this opti coat is all new to me just youtubing it now and it seems to be exactly what I'm looking for. I have a few long superficial scratches down each side of truck that he said he can fix and the videos show the truck coming out super shiny. I'll ask him - I'm getting it done next week. Thanks for the feedback/tips I'll do a before/after pic on this thread when done

The price ranges will differ when you get the OPTICOATPRO or the OPTICOAT PRO PLUS. The years of it lasting is also dependent on the maintenance you will conduct. I had the OPTICOATPRO PLUS but since I have mud terrain tires it was almost pointless that I got it. The coatings WILL not stop the rocks, sand or foreign debri on the road from tearing the coating. I think that CQuartz is harder and better products to accommodate the coating. If I had to do it all over again, I would have just done the vinyl wrap. It is in my opinion, that the coating though it looks great initially it will have a breaking point.

I'm curious to get more opinions on this. I just did my '55 with ceramicpro gold package. It's a 20 year old paint job and they spent 50+ hours on it. To the tune of $3,000. I need a cheaper solution for the tundra.

I use to run a mobile detailing biz in college, I'm pretty anal about things. I researched, talked, explored for a good 8 months before making a decision. I wash 5 cars in the house (I never go to a car wash), anything that can make things easier is a big win in my book as we have a 4/6 year old and a new spawn on the way.

Yea, the roof took them about 5-6 hours alone (full wool pad compounded)....it's a giant piece of metal IMG_6603.jpgIMG_6614.jpg

Tundra is brand new (about 200 miles on it)

Yea, I've used onr on and off for a few years. Really depends on the condition of the car and the weather on what I'm gonna do.

The hot rod only gets washed a few times a year. The rest usually every other week. That said, I beat up my cars. I just did a 1,000 mile road trip through snow, storms, dirt roads in the 911 and it needs help BAD

Ceramic pro runs around $400-$700 for our Tundras. There's a lot of prep involved, anything left on the paint before the application, will stay there, under the application... for about 2 years. So it needs to be right. Detailing has changed a ton in the last 10 years. Paint reconditioning is a craft, a lot of detailers cant correctly do it. So when you find a good one that can, get ready to open that wallet. I actually started in reconditioning and protecting paint, then added the rest later. $3000 seems a little steep, unless your '55 spent the lat 20 years under a sappy tree, I dont know what could've used up 50 hours.

The paint was rough, car spent years outside, has been driven through hurricanes, snow storms, etc. the clear is also extremely hard. May have paid too much, but I'm happy :)

That said, it may be a local thing but ceramicpro gold out here is $1500-2000

And you are absolutely right...the game has changed significantly in the last 10 years....it's funny you rarely see zaino fans anymore ;)

Yea, the clear is hard on older cars... They may have actually wet sanded the whole car, started from scratch.
