Do you remember the One Eye Parrot and Banana Cabana? Broke my heart to see they had closed. I made personal history in the Banana Cabana...long story.

I agree with others about the ghost walks. I've been a history buff all my life, you can read some books and walk around knowing the stories yourself.

Great thread, I haven't been able to do over night in Charleston in a long time so the restaurant list is new to me. I still remember "Brushy Peaks", "The Mary Anne", "Hynmans", "Garibaldi's". And there was a hole in the wall place out on the causeway to Folly, can't remember the name now.

 

im down for a Charleston meet up sometime. but maybe not a carriage ride haha. @Moon Puppy was that hole in the wall place right on the creek? if so that pace has changed names a few times over the past few years. I think its an Argentinian restaurant right now. ive been meaning to try it.

We did a ghost tour a long time ago. I thought it was neat. you got to go places that you normally wouldn't go and this time of year it wont be too terribly hot. also, the Aquarium is pretty awesome too if youre into those types of things.

 

Looking at google maps I seem to remember it being that clump of land between the LoLo's place and Crosby's Fish and Shrimp market. Doesn't look like it's anything anymore. LoLo's wasn't even there at the time, this had to be 30 years ago. Hell getting old.

 

30 years ago? maybe Hugo took it out lolos was the place I was talking about that's changed a good bit.

 

We went there before Hugo so it may well have been taken out. Memory is vague during the 80s.
My old roommate and I were heading to Charleston the weekend Hugo hit, we ended up going to the Clemson game instead.

 

All the above comments are true on the ghost tours. Luckily you are coming when the weather is freezing cold. It’s all the way down to 70 during the day!! If you were going to do ONE do the prison ghost tour. That’s the best one if you are going to do one.

Taco Boy is awesome. They have two locations now. Isle of Palms and Sullivan’s island is an easy 15 minute drive over the bridge from downtown and Poe’s restaurant or the obstinate daughter are top notch restaurants out on Sullivan’s.

taco boy is on the short list along with the daily for breakfast. still undecided on a dinner place. gonna hit a brewery or two and walk about downtown. Got a luxury rental for the trip down. Looking forward to it!

 

How much you want to spend on a dinner? Raw 167 is the answer. Or Halls. Halls is expensive though. If you don’t have reservation then sit at the bar.

 

Thanks for all the suggestions. Settled on a place called Edmunds oast for dinner. One of the best meals and dinner experiences I've ever had. Sat at the kitchen bar. Very awesome experience.

And fwiw I miss the tundra but you guys were right about not bringing it despite seeing a handful down here.

 

Well..... What else did y'all get into?!

 

Lots of walking, road some bikes got great coffee and went to Sullivan's island. Tried to get some tennis in but was a big fail. They had the Charleston marathon this morning too which made driving around very difficult. So much to do here but not enough time in the day

 

Brought the rain didn't ya!!!!!!!!!

 

ohh i forgot about the marathon. no wonder there was random traffic yesterday morning on the way to work. ive yet to eat at Edmunds oast, but ive hear great things!

Wife said next road trip we are going to Savannah, will be new for both of us But next month we are going to San Diego which is also new for us both. Rented a Porsche for this one

 

Went to Savannah once with my old room mate from the BatchPad days. We both made personal history there, it was thick...but don't think that's y'alls intent now. Would love to go back to see it sober...
I'm more of the speed of Edisto Island these days. Beaufort SC would be a nice quiet place to visit.
