For the folks who have a Leer cap, which model do you have and what do you like or dislike about it? I'm torn between the 100XR, 100XL and 100XQ.

Same question for the guys running ARE. The Z series looks nice but I think the CX Classic is much cheaper. I'm also looking at the V but I can't tell from the website which features it may or may not have.

I have the XR. The window options on the other two were not important to me since I added the two side window flip ups. I wanted the auto locking rear hatch, however, Which was an option on the XR. I am very pleased with the latch on the rear hatch. I wish they could have used the same latch on the side windows.

Also the prop activated light switch is well worth the money.

    very nice quality cap.

I love it. Fairly plain, other than carpet headliner. Price point was perfect.

ARE quoted me $2757 CAD installed including 5% GST here in Western Canada. A Leer 100R would be about $100 less and a 100XR would be about $200 more. That's all with an opening front window.

How do they typically eliminate your bed lights/3rd brake light during cap install? My bed lights don’t work when I flip the switch and I’m figuring it’s because I have a cap (I’m also assuming most guys bed lights are disabled too?), would they have simply removed the bulbs? I can’t check this for obvious reasons of my cap being in the way...

Are you talking about the 3rd brake light? Or the lights mounted into the side of your bed?

Both of my sets of lights still work. The lights in the sides of the bed work as always... the 3rd brake light and white lights up top just shine on the front of the cap..

I don’t have any factory lights inside of my bed. I’m talking about my third brake light/bed light, the third brake light is in the middle of two white lights. Nothing there activates with brakes or switch. Figured it was normal. Generic pic from eBay...

What are you using for a controller? What wattage do you get out of those in full direct sun?

I looked into the flexible style briefly but read about those being much more inefficient than the framed versions.

Haven't posted in awhile. Put a Leer topper on this summer, opted for side window delete. Just installed my Rhino Rack Platform this weekend.[/ATTACH] IMG_0723.jpg IMG_0728.jpg IMG_0724.jpg IMG_0726.jpg

The vendor wasn’t as on his game as I would’ve hoped. It’s supposed to be a color match, but didn’t quite get there.

it’s a Leer topper, so I didn’t cut corners on quality, just chose the wrong retailer. It’s got the carpet liner, LEDs, and lock is matched to my key fob. I also have the full length bed slider so side access is not necessary.

So when my local Line X shop called me with a quote on a bed liner, they also offered to sell me a Line X brand canopy as well. Supposedly it's a brand new product. I can't find any info on it on their website. Anyone know anything about this?

My local LineX shop carries ARE toppers. Maybe it’s just an ARE rebrand? Check the LineX corporate page.

Their U.S. website says nothing about caps. Canadian one says they sell Ranch, Leer and Swiss. But the guy I talked to specifically said it's a new Line X product and not a rebrand from another manufacturer.

They’re ARE rebrands, I talked to my guy who did my linex last week and he let me snap a photo of the paperwork linex sent to him about the different models. They don’t really seem any different other than a different model name and sticker, prices were also similar.

I guess if it's cheaper than a 100XR, I'll give it a shot. Otherwise, I'll call up Leer and get my order in.

I just ordered my XR a week ago. They didn't look any different or come with any different options, so if you're leaning towards Leer over ARE it likely won't change your mind.

They're going to be sold under Linex's Truck Gear brand.

I'm leaning towards Leer mostly because I've heard more good things about them than ARE. The 100XR is actually $200 more than a V Series. I'm also not sure I want a V series.

Well I did some more research again and found several posts where these flexible glued on panels failed. Possibly due to excess heat. Guess it's not something I want to worry about, having to rip them off after the first summer.

My rigid panels are doing just fine after 2 years, just thought it'd be nice to free up 40 lbs on the roof and look a bit sleeker.

My buddy had a home made truck camper that was built out of plywood and spent part of its life living by the coast, soaking up the moisture. It was almost too heavy for his Dodge 2500.
