What have you done to your 2nd gen Tundra today?

New black TRD shift knob showed up today. Thanks @Roman

 

Where did you get that shifter? Never seen one in all black. Nice!

 

It came from Toyota of Cool Springs. It wasn't listed for the gen 2's but after checking with Roman he assured me it would thread right on.

 

I have the 4.6 with 315/70/17. my truck is always hunting for gears and its definitely sluggish. going to regear soon

 

Driver side in, just had to move the wire harness out of the way so it could sit all the way down.

 

added some bed stiffeners...I'm liking those from Victory4x4. Low profile. Easy install.

 

Started putting in clamps to be able to hold some recovery gear, ended up reopening the tip of my finger that I tried to cut off last night with a Madeline cutter... super glue did not hold haha...

 

Ok call me stupid but what are the bed stiffeners for? I know dumb question

 

So I got a buddy with a 3D printer...

 

to stiffen up the bedside so you don't end up with a crack from bed side flexing.

 

supposed to help prevent the bed sides from spreading apart when you carry heavy load on the bed rails like bed rack with gear/RTT or camper shell with roof rack and gear etc..
also add more latching points for securing loads in bed.

 

Got tired of hauling groceries in the cab with the family. Put up a generic cargo net in the bed.

Could of used WD40 makes it alot easier.

 

I installed a spare brand new 31E battery on the truck so far so good didnt extend the cables neither. I did it backyard lol style. Next will be adding my fridge to the bed.

Is that a thing? Are there reports of that happening? Had a truck and topper for decades and never thought about it.

 

I grew up in the late 40's and through the 50' and 60's and in those days if you got 100,000 miles on a vehicle it was outstanding, so when I was looking for a used Tundra, at first it concerned me that the one we bought had 244,000 miles, but after looking at the Car Fax service figures and test driving the vehicle, I stopped worrying and then I read about a Tundra that had over a million miles on it, I realized I had made the right choice, they are truly awesome trucks and I'm honored to own one, at my age it will probably be the last truck I'll have to buy, it will probably get passed on to our son.

 

The TC has a whip holder

 

I have a cap, no use for a whip holder plus the Victory will clear DECKED drawers and bed slide

 

I see I see Caps are overrated hahaha.. I miss mine. :-(

 

Replaced original oem radiator 12+ years old had a small leak. Installed new denso rad and flushed my heater core coolant as well. Signficant improvement in heater temp. Next up drain and fill transmission.
