Thank you for the response and info. See my responses below? I will continue to monitor the products performance and hopefully it won’t continue to malfunction.

    1. No foreign objects because I don’t even use a carrying case on my iPhone.

    2. I was into my drive for 3-4 minutes when it lit red, is that enough time to overheat.

    3. Apple iPhone 8 does support Qi wireless technology. I’ve charged this exact phone in my home on a Qi charger this way since it was new.

    Thanks,
    George

I don't mean to sound redundant, just hoping to narrow dow causes.
I see you don't have a case but do you have one of those metal disks for the magnetic mounts or PopSocket grips stuck to the back of your phone?
I know little about iPhones but a quick search does state that the iPhone 8 is only rated for wireless charging of 7 watts while these chargers supply 10 watts of charging.

Thanks for the note. No accessories on my phone at all, phone only. My wife has an iPhone XR, will try that phone on a long drive today.

Don't know why the trend is to do this - the magnet on the back of my phone keeps it up in front of me for GPS etc and I can charge it as it is working for me.

I use entune for navigation or I know where I’m going. Plus I don’t have to plug it in.

I’m guessing you had the same thing happen I did. If you get it far enough off center or not laying flat, it’s possible - at least with my 11 pro.

Initially my iPhone was shifting around when driving because I had no case. If it moves off the center of the charger, the light went red. I had to pick up the phone and reset it on the charger to get it to go from green to blue again.

I’ve learned that with my phone, it has to be on the charger just right to be recognized.

Long story short, once I added a case, it helped keep the phone in place while driving and I’ve not had an issue with the red light popping up.

Took about a half hour here as well. Good thing for the video, no instruction in the box.

I printed mine off Sparks website. Did you disconnect the battery? I wouldn’t think it’s required for this but a lot of people are doing it

Same here. No need to disconnect with plug n play. I just installed mine. It was nice and easy.

    I kinda want this.
Just trying to figure out if I'd use it.
Most of the time in my truck my iPhone sits in ProClip mount on the dash with Waze running..
Although the wife could charge her iPhone wirelessly in the 2% of the time she is in my truck...

I have a Note 10+ and I'm experiencing th same red light issue also. Not sure if it's a placement thing as the phone fits almost perfect in there. On top of that I'm also noticing that my phone would go from green light to blue light periodically with no movement. It's like it lost wireless charging connectivity and regains it a moment later. I have a thin plastic case with no metal or magnets inside. Also notice that my phone would get really warm while charging and hot when I have tethering turned on. Anyone else noticing this? My issues feels like it may all be heat related.

It lights up blue when charging. If it is flipping between blue and green it is losing connection

Warm during tethering and charging isn’t unusual. Tethering sucks quite a bit of power plus the heat due to charging.

Does everyone else’s charger turn on automatically once you start the truck?

@voz check out the Marketplace Gen 3. It’s under TRD center console about a quarter way down the page.

Installation was very easy. I suggest watching @RobMotive's Youtube instructions. My phone is an iPhone 8 with a Magpul case. No issues:
